Live TV coming to Xbox 360

Microsoft announced a new initiative to add live streaming television on Xbox 360 at today's press briefing, and teased a video of the service being controlled through Kinect. Though specific partnerships weren't announced, the company promised more details on that in the coming months. The streaming is said to be coming with the fall update.

Sony Crams PS2 into 720p Bravia TV in UK

If your PlayStation 3 doesn't support PS2 backwards compatibility and you live in the UK, you now have the option of purchasing a new Sony Bravia KDL-22PX300 LCD 720p TV... which has a PlayStation 2 built into its base (via Engadget).

Hulu: PlayStation Plus Only Required During Hulu Plus Preview Period

Hulu Plus, the paid service from the online television service, will only require a PlayStation Plus subscription during the service's preview period. After that, Hulu Plus will be available to all PlayStation Network members with a Hulu Plus account, contrary to a rumor that PlayStation Plus would be needed.

The clarification comes from a statement issued to Joystiq: "With the launch of Hulu Plus there have been many rumors started and we are trying our best to remedy the situation. Specifically to your question, the Playstation Plus service is only a requirement during the preview period." Read more »

Hulu Launches Paid Service; Support for PS3 and Xbox 360 Forthcoming

Hulu has launched a premium service offering HD streaming for many shows from co-owning television networks ABC, FOX, and NBC as well as many other providers. The service, Hulu Plus, will run $9.99 a month and boasts access to current seasons of popular shows as well as a large back catalog of older shows.

The primary draw here is likely the ability to access Hulu content on devices such as the iPhone (3GS, iPhone4), iPad, iPod Touch (3rd Generation), and Samsung Internet TV's and Blu-Ray Players. Future support is promised for Internet-enabled Sony and Vizio TV's and Blu-Ray players, as well as the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. For the consoles, PS3 support is coming in July, while Xbox 360 owners will have to wait until "early 2011" and it will require an Xbox Live Gold subscription. Read more »

The Sims Creator Will Wright Working on TV Show

IGN has details on Will Wright's next project. The creator of SimCity, The Sims, and Spore will be working on a television show, currently titled "The Creation Project".

The project is described as a "TV series about the creation of a TV series," according to IGN. Citing early show planning documents, IGN reveals that the show will allow viewers to submit story ideas, which will then be voted on. The winning idea would get produced into two half-hour episodes. LEGO Batman Becoming TV Show

A television series based off Traveller's Tales' upcoming action game LEGO Batman is currently in production, beginning with a one-off short about 20 minutes in length.

While Warner Bros.-owned developer Traveller's Tales will have no direct involvement in the show, which is being handled by a separate studio in the United States, the series will utilize the same technology and assets that power the block-busting game. Read more »
