Dead Island Riptide is following the footsteps of its predecessor by releasing a sappy pre-rendered trailer that is nothing like the game it is supposedly "inspired" by.

Sometimes publishers use E3 to spill their guts about a new game, blasting screenshots, fact sheets and trailers into our soft faces. Other times, they casually drop a small announcement then walk away, like a lout tossing an empty cola can on the pavement.

The console versions of Dead Island are getting new patches in the next few days, which promise to fix some bugs while also making a few gameplay tweaks. The PlayStation 3 version of the patch will go live tomorrow (November 9) and the Xbox 360 will follow on Thursday (November 10).
In terms of gameplay, a raised level cap to 60 is likely the one to garner the most attention from fans.

The open-world zombie-killing adventure Dead Island seems to have performed well enough at retail for a possible sequel to be considered. It makes sense, as the game reviewed and sold fairly well, even if it didn't deliver the delicious drama present in its cinematic debut trailer.
