BitComposer and GSC feud over S.T.A.L.K.E.R. rights

BitComposer Games, the publisher of S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Call of Pripyat in the US and Europe, had claimed yesterday it had acquired the license to the franchise and was planning new games. That didn't sit well with developer GSC Game World, which claims it holds the trademark to the games.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 canceled, ideas funneled into 'Survarium'

Despite assurances of continued development just last month, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 has been officially canceled. The silver lining to this cloud is that the team is pouring many ideas from the now-canned project into Survarium, a free-to-play MMO that the team calls "more ambitious."

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 development continues

Though when we last checked in on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 in January, work was said to be continuing on it, we couldn't help but be a little concerned. After all, developer GSC Game World was said to have almost shut down in December 2011, and the circumstances still haven't been explained. How splendid then, that GSC flat-out stated today that yes, the open-world survival shooter sequel is still in development.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 development continuing

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 developer GSC Game World hinted in December that there was "cause for hope," following reports that the troubled Ukranian studio was shutting down. "Official news" was expected in January, and now it's confirmed: work on the survival shooter sequel will continue.

STALKER developer admits 'we will do our best to continue'

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. developer GSC Game World has acknowledged and confirmed rumors that the studio is in trouble.

Last week, a report indicated the Ukraine-based developer would close its doors, citing its "inability to license a console version of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 to publishers" as one of its primary issues. When it was announced in August 2010, GSC Game World said S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 was built upon "new multi-platform technology," but promised PC was the primary platform for the 2012 release.

Report: STALKER 2 dev shuts down

GSC Game World, developer of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. franchise, has been shut down according to numerous reports. While the studio is officially offering "no comment," multiple sources are confirming the closure of the studio.

The Ukrainian team had been working on a follow-up to its FPS fan-favorite on a multi-platform engine, and was originally intended to ship in 2012. With the studio in shambles, the fate of the game is unclear--more likely than not, it is probably dead in its tracks.
