Microsoft has released the gameplay launch trailer for Halo 4, a nice reprieve from the live-action Forward Unto Dawn series and the David Fincher-produced "Scanned" commercial. Then, Zynga CEO Mark Pincus has confirmed yesterday's reports of massive layoffs across multiple studios. In a letter, Pincus said the company cut 5% of its total staff, and closed its Boston studio entirely. It has also proposed closures to the Japan and UK studios. Finally, Far Cry 3's drug-induced jaunt through a tropical island paradise continues to get more interesting with the introduction of a new bad guy to hate. A new trailer shows off Hoyt, a human trafficker that you will need to eliminate with the help of one of his key lieutenants.

Finally, if you got Medal of Honor Warfighter on any platform, be prepared to snag a 1.7 GB release-day patch that fixes a laundry list of problems with the game that apparently wasn't ready for launch.

Ubisoft has promised that Assassin's Creed 3 will conclude the present-day story of the franchise, and a new trailer hints at how it all ties together. Then, wash your tux and beef up your lassoing arm, as Ubisoft today announced that it's bringing Gangnam Style K-pop sensation to Just Dance 4 as downloadable content in November. Finally, Agent 47 has always been a budding fashionista, with his classic sharp suits and an impressive array of costumes covering every fancy dress party conceivable. His wardrobe will expand again in Hitman: Absolution, a new trailer shows, with disguises from judge and cop to luchador and, yes, chicken once again.

Add Battlefield 3 to the long list of games showing off bows or crossbows this year. EA today showed off its 'Aftermath' DLC pack for the first time, revealing a chunky crossbow. It offers more than just a crossbow though, also adding four new maps, more vehicles, and an extra mode. Then, if you fancy some new trinkets for your video game doodads shelf, the two special editions of BioShock Infinite might be right up your alley. Announced today, they offer such lovelies as a keychain replica of one of Infinite's vigor bottles, a lithograph poster, and, for the really rich, a 9-and-a-half-inch statue of the dreaded Songbird enemy. Finally, Starhawk developer LightBox Interactive has laid off 24 people as it prepares to move away from shiny big console games with a smaller, self-funded game for iOS.

Although the game isn't set to come out until next month, Activision has released the "launch trailer" for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. It's undoubtedly the most revealing trailer yet, showcasing much of the future-tech that awaits players in the single-player campaign. Then, the next time you start up your Xbox 360, a shiny new dashboard update might be waiting for you. The official roll-out of the dash update is starting today, and will move in phases over the next week. It boasts a few new features, a prettier UI, and the launch of new services. Finally, Xbox Music launches, letting you listen to streaming music for free, subscribe to unlimited music of your choice for a monthly fee, and buy specific songs a la carte.

We're finally back from break. We missed you too. Green Arrow is joining the Injustice roster. For those unfamiliar, Green Arrow is a hero who lacks superpowers, but has incredible aim with a bow and arrow. Then, Persona 4 Golden is no mere port of the fine PS2 RPG, no no no. The Vita edition comes bristling with all manner of shiny new additions and improvements. Finally, developer Unknown Worlds has announced that it'll release Natural Selection 2 on October 31, exactly a decade after the original.

Crysis 3's multiplayer packs 12 maps, over 30 new weapons, and eight modes. Perhaps the most exciting addition to the online: Hunter Mode sees two permanently cloaked 'hunters' with bows taking on a load of CELL soldiers. Then, whereas most video games seek lucrative movie deals, EA is setting its sights for TV. DICE's Battlefield: Bad Company series will be turned into an "hour-long action comedy." Finally, Borderlands 2's fifth class, Gaige the Mechromancer, was slated to arrive next Tuesday but oh! She'll be available today.

Halo is finished and it had mechs. We have a bit of footage of the Mantis mech, and the team is split on how it looks. Also, in the month of October, if you purchase $100 worth of anything with your wallet on the PlayStation Network, you can expect a $20 credit back in November. Finally, the new release list is out for the week and at the top list is Resident Evil 6, complete with a tepid early reception from reviewers.
