'Console Wars' movie will tell the story of Sega vs Nintendo

Sony Pictures has bought the rights to Console Wars, a book that chronicles Sega's attempt at going head-to-head against Nintendo during the 90s. The upcoming book includes testimonies from hundreds of people who witnessed many behind-the-scenes battles between the two companies during that time.

Creative Assembly takes its lumps over Rome 2 camel DLC

The Creative Assembly has faced some backlash in recent days over its latest downloadable content for Total War: Rome 2. The Camel Cataphracts and Mercenary Naked Swords units found in the "Beasts of War" and "Caesar in Gaul" DLC, respectively, were both seen in videos of the game prior to release. This has led to accusations that the content was intentionally withheld.

Company of Heroes 2 gets new DLC ahead of Aftermath update

Over the long holiday weekend, two of Sega's major franchises went head-to-head in the Steam arena. The results are in and Company of Heroes 2 has emerged victorious over Total War: Rome II, by virtue of its community racking up more in-game victories. CoH2 fans will now reap the rewards of a pair of DLC packs, available for free through February 22, just in time for tonight's Aftermath update.

Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F serenading Vita in March

Japan's favourite virtual popstar Hatsune Miku is almost set to begin touring on Vita. Sega has confirmed that its handled version of the vocaloid songstress's rhythm game Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F will arrive on March 4. It'll support Cross-Buy with PlayStation 3 for the DLC--but not the full game.

The newly-announced Sonic Boom is a new direction for the blue hedgehog, featuring major makeovers for some characters and bringing on developers Big Red Button and Sanzaru to make the Wii U and 3DS versions, respectively. Sega is going back to the drawing board (again) for Sonic the Hedgehog, giving their mascot a whole new look for 2014. The publisher has announced an all-new Sonic game set to come later this year called Sonic Boom. The games will hit Wii U and 3DS and coincide with a new CG animated series of the same name.

Rumor: new Sonic game coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Wii U

Though Nintendo currently has an exclusivity agreement keeping Sonic the Hedgehog on its consoles, it seems Sega may have wider plans for the future. Sonic may be coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in the not-too-distant future, according to a poster that was spotted at the Nuremberg Toy Fair.

The 3DS game Rhythm Thief and the Emperor's Treasure has gotten a sequel on iOS devices today, called Rhythm Thief and the Paris Caper. As you might guess, the new game takes place in Paris as Raphael and his dog Fondue attempt to solve the mystery of his father's disappearance. Sega had previously promised it for early 2014, and this is about as early as it gets.

Alien: Isolation coming from The Creative Assembly and Sega, stars Ripley's daughter

UPDATE - Sega has confirmed that Alien: Isolation will come to PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One in late 2014. The Creative Assembly calls it "survival horror," and it's going back to its roots by only presenting one of the titular aliens to avoid.

ORIGINAL STORY - Microsoft appears to have now confirmed long-standing rumors about the next game set in the Aliens universe. Titled Alien: Isolation, the game is said to star the daughter of series protagonist Ellen Ripley as she attempts to investigate her mother's disappearance.

Sega planning more free-to-play 3DS games

Sega is preparing its first free-to-play game on the 3DS, but doesn't plan to stop there. The company is planning to release the F2P racer Initial D: Perfect Shift Online this winter in Japan, based on the manga series by Shuuichi Shigeno. But Sega producer Toshihiro Nagoshi says they are already considering other F2P options moving forward.
