The next Plants vs Zombies game may not be a tower defense fans would expect. Instead, the latest rumor suggests it will be a game unlike anything PopCap has ever done. Nintendo has made no bones about its hope that platform parity with the Wii U will make it more attractive for third-parties to port their games from PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. But conspicuously missing from the company's E3 press briefing were some of the biggest franchises around, including Call of Duty. A rumor suggests that the next installment, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, will make it to the new console.

It has been seven years since the last TimeSplitters game, and in that time, developer Free Radical Entertainment was rescued from the brink of destruction by Crytek, and was reborn as Crytek UK. Several reports of a TimeSplitters 4 have surfaced since then, with the latest rumor from OXM sources having the game up and running, but Crytek UK has humorously responded with what could be viewed as a wink and a nudge.

Whereas the rumor mill has been quite active regarding the next Xbox console (codenamed "Durango"), there's barely been a whisper of the next PlayStation. With signs pointing to the next generation of consoles launching in 2013, what has Sony been up to?
According to the latest rumor, "select developers" have already received dev kits for the PS4 since the beginning of this year. However, "finalized" beta kits won't ship until the end of 2012. Inside the box is an AMD x64 CPU and AMD Southern Islands GPU--a drastic change in architecture from the IBM/Nvidia core in the PS3.

Update: 2:36 p.m. with no comment from Bethesda.
When Shacknews' Ozzie Mejia previewed Human Head Studio's Prey 2 back at E3 last year, he came away impressed with the new direction the series seemed to be taking. Open-world bounty hunting is an intriguing concept, to say the least. That's why it's disheartening that a rumor has surfaced indicating that the game might never see the light of day.

In what may be the most unhelpful tease ever, Valve boss Gabe Newell has assured fans that the company will announce "something with a three in it" at E3 2012. While this could be chalked up to Valve's adorable tendency to mess with its fans, it could also be part of another alternate reality game (ARG) that the company seems to be cooking up.

[Update] Capcom has told Shacknews: "We’ve made no announcements" regarding the rumored Dead Rising 3 details.
[Original Story] Earlier today, Capcom teased the continuing zombie adventures of its Dead Rising franchise, but one report claims to have discovered the next title's deepest secrets.
Dead Rising 3 reportedly takes place in the fictional town of Los Perdidos, California, that has been locked down after the zombie outbreak reaches its borders. An orphan auto mechanic named Rick is apparently the hero of this tale, who plans to restore a plane and fly out of the city before a bomb wiped the virus off the face of the earth.

Brace yourselves Last Guardian fans, as things appear to have potentially taken another turn for the worse. Fumito Ueda, head of highly regarded Team Ico, is rumored to be leaving his post. All may not be lost, as he is said to be staying on in a freelance capacity to see the game through to completion. If true, though, it could be a blow to future potential PlayStation exclusives, with Last Guardian closing a relationship that resulted in critical darlings, Ico, and Shadow of the Colossus.
