Grand Theft Auto Online stimulus delayed for more bug fixing

Grand Theft Auto Online players were supposed to get a large injection of in-game funds starting this week, but the money hasn't come yet. Rockstar has now explained the delay, stating that it's holding off on the stimulus cash until it stamps out more bugs in the Grand Theft Auto 5 multiplayer mode.

Grand Theft Auto 5 vs Los Angeles: Santa Monica

Grand Theft Auto 5 lets players drive through a fictionalized take on Los Angeles. But, how does Los Santos compare with the real deal? Shacknews' Ozzie Mejia takes a trip to Santa Monica to see how it compares with the virtual version found in-game. As our video shows, Rockstar Games completely captures the look and feel of the iconic pier and boardwalk.

Grand Theft Auto 5 joins Xbox 360 Games on Demand

While PlayStation 3 owners were able to download Grand Theft Auto 5 off the PlayStation Store on day one, Xbox 360 owners have had to wait. The Games on Demand service typically doesn't support day one launches--although the odd "don't install the game to the hard drive" bug that plagued the Xbox 360 version probably didn't help, either.

PSA: If GTA Online loses your character, don't make a new one

Even after a patch aimed at major bugs, Grand Theft Auto 5's Online mode is still going through some growing pains. If the character selection screen shows you empty slots even after you've created a character, Rockstar is warning you not to create a new one in its place.

Grand Theft Auto 5 review: great, not grand

Grand Theft Auto 5 review: great, not grand

Like the real world city of Los Angeles that inspired it, Grand Theft Auto 5 can be summed up with one word: sprawling. Three main characters! A massive open world! Underwater missions! In terms of sheer size, Rockstar's latest is certain its greatest. Yet, the core game design has not changed much from the early PS2 days. Despite its rebel persona, Rockstar has produced a sequel that is extremely likable and, for the most part, fairly safe.

Trevor represents 'pure escapism,' says GTA5 voice actor

Trevor has been a very controversial figure in Grand Theft Auto 5, mostly for his crazy, unhinged demeanor that he carries with him over the course of the entire game. But if you ask the man that helped bring the character to life, voice actor Steven Ogg, Trevor largely represents the escapist nature of gaming itself.

PSA: Grand Theft Auto Online now available, kind of

We've seen plenty of games get slammed when it comes time for sudden demand for online services, so when it comes to Grand Theft Auto 5--a game that has broken sales records--it should come as no surprise that it's hitting similar snags. The online mode launched early this morning, and already Rockstar has issued a list of common bug complaints.

Grand Theft Auto Online launches around 4AM on October 1

Grand Theft Auto Online launches tomorrow as a free update. But, when will it be available? According to Rockstar, they expect the title update to be available on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live "starting around 7AM ET" (4AM PT). Of course, it being a massively-anticipated launch, we wouldn't be surprised if there are some hiccups once the multiplayer mode actually launches.

Grand Theft Auto 5 diary: The ending less traveled

Grand Theft Auto 5 diary: The ending less traveled

We're waiting for the release of Grand Theft Auto Online before doing a formal review of Rockstar's latest game. Until then, our Steve Watts will be offering insights into some memorable moments from the single player adventure.

It's over. I've jumped ramps, done yoga, bought cars, crashed planes, pulled heists, and escaped cops. I've hit the streets at top speed, and been thrown from the vehicle due to an inconveniently placed palm tree on more occasions than I'd like to admit. While GTA Online looms overhead, it's time to take stock of one more important aspect of the main game: the ending.

For obvious reasons, this will be the most spoilerific of the diaries yet.
