Max Payne 3 is sure to be a dark, cinematic adventure with noir overtones, with the type of depressing story that could put you in a blue funk. If you need a break from all that negativity, though, the game will feature two arcade modes to rack up points like an old-school video game, and reward your success with multiplayer benefits.

Rockstar had promised that multiplayer would expand upon the single-player story of Max Payne 3. But, how? In a new video, the publisher explains how the "Gang Wars" mode uses events from the single-player game as a starting point for additional adventures.
Each Gang War has five chapters. The result of each chapter moves the branching storyline forward, while causing the game type to change.

PC gamers will have to wait two weeks to get their hands on Max Payne 3. While the console version launches on the 15th, the PC release is making a slow-mo dive to digital retailers on May 29th.
The PC version will support "DirectX11 including tessellation, as well as a number of additional advanced graphics options." And of course, there are tons of pre-order bonuses, based on where you choose to spend your digital dollars.

A full console generation, a new developer, and almost a decade has passed since Max Payne's last moody outing. Now that he's finally returning in Max Payne 3, the series has plenty of expectations riding on it, while attempting to preserve its noir tone and signature style. The game certainly pays homage to the most iconic elements of the series, but it might lean on them a little too much.

Last week, Rockstar Games released a new version of LA Noire with touch controls. But you'd be forgiven if you didn't know about it--it's a touch version created exclusively for OnLive. It's easily the best showcase of OnLive's ability to stream games to Android phones and tablets. However, the experience is marred by many of the same issues that plagued the launch of the service.
It's hard not to be stupefied when LA Noire is running as it should on the phone. After playing Angry Birds Space, it's hard not to be floored by the graphics. Whether on wi-fi or on 4G, my connection provided a clear image that let me appreciate the detailed environments and impressive facial capture technology developed by Team Bondi. This is the complete game experience running on my handheld. "This is the future," I thought.

Outside of Tom Sawyer and Ebeneezer Scrooge, most people don't get to see their own gravestone. You'll be able to get at least a virtual funeral with a contest for Max Payne 3. The game is holding a promotion with GameStop stores to let your name appear on a headstone in the "Cemetery" multiplayer map.

Though still getting ready for a May 29 release in North America (and June 1 in Europe), Rockstar Vancouver has unveiled the first PC-specific screenshots for Max Payne 3. The shots show off an incredible amount of detail, and feature Max with hair, Max without hair, and Max in a tense showdown with a member of a gang called the Crachá Preto. Roughly translated from Portuguese, the name means something along the lines of "Black Badge."
