For the sake of full disclosure, I never played the original Sanctum. The 2011 title from Coffee Stain Studios was one of the first games to blend together the tower defense and first-person shooter genres. But you don't need to have a full knowledge of the series to appreciate what the Swedish indie developer has created. Sanctum 2 offers a superb shooting experience, though one that's meant more for friends than solo players.

Coffee Stain Studios has shown off the first gameplay footage for Sanctum 2, in the form of a lengthy trailer. It gives us a look at both the overhead maps with their various defensive structures, and the first-person shooting to take the fight down to the battlefield.

"Get to the chopper!" More than a hilarious reference to the movie Predator for one to yell at any opportunity, it's also a new mode coming to dinosaur vs. human multiplayer shooter Primal Carnage as free DLC. As you may guess, the mode involves journeying to a helicopter, but unfortunately an awful lot of dinos are along the way.

Trendy Entertainment's Dungeon Defenders made quite a splash when it released in October. The developer had hoped a handheld version would broaden the game's appeal when it showed a tech demo of the game off on the PS Vita earlier in 2011, but it appears the port is no longer going to happen.

While the original was PC-exclusive, the cunningly-named Sanctum 2 will also be released for download on consoles, with Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network editions confirmed so far.

Popular Unreal Engine-powered mobile game Dungeon Defenders is jumping from iOS/Android to consoles and the PC. Trendy Entertainment's hack 'n slash will be available on Xbox Live Arcade and PC on October 19 for $14.99 (1200 Microsoft Points).
“The console version of Dungeon Defenders has more content, more depth and more challenge than many full retail boxed games," Trendy's Jeremy Stieglitz claimed. "So we can’t wait to get it into players’ hands so they can experience this epic role playing game as it was intended to be played."
