Dead Rising 2: Off the Record surfaces in October

Photojournalist and expert zombie-slayer Frank West will be back in Dead Rising 2: Off the Record on October 11 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, publisher Capcom has announced. The European release will follow on October 14.

Off the Record retells the Fortune City outbreak of Dead Rising 2 from the perspective of the series' original star. Frank was replaced in the sequel by motocross champ Chuck Greene, though the two later joined forces in downloadable standalone epilogue Dead Rising 2: Case West. Read more »

Bodycount release date pinned down

Bodycount release date pinned down

The release date for Codemasters' extravagant shooter Bodycount has been pinned down to a specific date. It'll explode onto Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in North America on August 30, then land in Europe on September 2.

Bodycount promises "outrageous and stylish gunfights" with "skill kills," kill-chaining, destructible cover, upgrades, special abilities, mines, airstrikes, and other loud and colorful things. You get a gun and make stuff go bang, you see. Though Bulletstorm might seem a strong influence, do bear in mind that Bodycount was announced first before you go making silly accusations. The Darkness 2 paints the town red on Oct. 4

The Darkness 2 will arrive just in time to terrorize gamers before Halloween, 2K Games announced today. The upcoming first-person shooter based on the comic series of the same name from Top Cow Productions will launch for the PC, Xbox 360, and PS3 on October 4 in North America. The game will arrive on October 7, internationally.

The Darkness 2 is currently in development at Digital Extremes, which recently developed the PC version of THQ's Homefront. Read more »

Moon Diver leaps onto XBLA May 4

Moon Diver--the feelplus-developed downloadable action title from creator Koichi Yotsui--is finally headed to the Xbox Live Arcade. Today, publisher Square Enix announced the game will launch on May 4 for the XBLA, priced at 1200MS Points ($15).

Already available on the PlayStation Network, Moon Diver pays homage to Yotsui-san's famous Strider series, pitting players against enormous bosses in a side-scrolling world. On both the Xbox 360 and PS3, Moon Diver supports drop in and out local and online co-op for up to four players. Read more »

Vanquish hits North America Stores October 19, European Stores October 22

Sega of America has just confirmed the upcoming Platinum Games developed shooter, Vanquish, is set to hit stores in North America on October 19 for the XBox 360 and PlayStation 3. Earlier today the European release was announced for October 22, a day later than the previously announced Japanese release date.

Ready to pop some zombie heads? Then mark February 10 on your calendar, as that's when Sega will be shipping Headstrong Games' House of the Dead: Overkill to stores.

Resident Evil 5 Demo Finally Gets a Release Date: Hitting Xbox 360 First, PS3 Later

It's been a long, painful wait since the Resident Evil 5 demo hit Japan, but things are finally looking up. Developer Capcom has announced that the downloadable demo will "exclusively" hit the North American Xbox Live Marketplace on Monday, January 26.

The PlayStation 3 demo will follow the next week, its release expected to coincide with the PlayStation Store update on Thursday, February 5. As with the Japanese demo, the download will pack two stages along with online and offline co-op support. Read more »

Mirror's Edge DLC Gets Release Date

The PC version of Mirror's Edge heads off to North American retailers today, and in celebration, publisher EA confirmed the release date for the game's upcoming DLC.

Priced at 800 Microsoft Points ($10), the Time Trial downloadable content will be available for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 gamers on January 29. Read more »
