The final version of Urban Terror has been released, ending the development of the mod on the Quake 3 engine with v3.4. You can download either a 414mb full installer or a 12mb patch to update the previous v3.3 release.

PlanetQuake3.net is reporting that the Quake 3 mod Urban Terror will become a stand-alone game. The mod will be ported to the Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory engine, though it will be able to run on its own and the Silicon Ice development team no longer considers it to be just a mod. They still intend to release the game for free. More info here.

As noted on the mod's official website, version 3.0 of the Urban Terror mod for Quake 3 Arena is now out. Version 3.0 features a new Bomb/Defuse gamemode, a new weapon, new player skins and more. You can grab the release from FileShack.

Quake3 Urban Terror v2.6 has just been released, although the website doesnt seem to be up to date on that stuff as of this posting, you can already grab the files on Fileshack of course. Keep in mind things are a bit crowded today with the big Spearhead demo release yesterday. Also, for those of you who were having slowdowns, we've tracked that down and things should be snappy again.

id Software programmer Robert Duffy updated his .plan file, mentioning that id's FTP server now has a new Quake 3 (+ Team Arena) SDK containing the 1.32 source code. There is a Windows version as well as a Linux version. Both of those links go to FileShack where the files are mirrored.
