PlayStation Store update brings Mortal Kombat, Crysis 2 demos to all, Parasite Eve

As ever, Sony's weekly update to the PlayStation Store's digital catalogue arrived yesterday with a metric shedload of new releases, demos, downloadable content, and other gubbins.

This week's new PlayStation 3 releases are the new Contra game Hard Corps: Uprising, which hit Xbox 360 last month, and Slam Bolt Scrappers, which somewhat resembles action-Tetris. PSone survival horror RPG Parasite Eve also arrives as a PSone Classic title for $6. The PSP gets Dissidia 012[duodecim] Final Fantasy's $3 prologue episode. Read more »

Just when we were getting the beats of its predecessors out of our heads, a release date has been revealed for Patapon 3. The PSP-exclusive title will arrive on April 12 for $19.99 USD.

Fresh crop of demos on PlayStation Store

This week's PlayStation Store update was a demo-o-rama, bringing trials for BioWare's RPG Dragon Age II, MLB 11: The Show and LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars. On top of those, the Yakuza 4 demo that was previously exclusive to PlayStation Plus subscribers is now available to all and sundry. Huzzah for trying before buying.

PlayStation Store Update Brings Stacking, Plants vs. Zombies and Killzone 3 Demo

Sony's weekly PlayStation Store update arrived yesterday, delivering heaps of goodies including the release of Double Fine's Stacking, explosive platformer Explodemon and PopCap's lawn defense game Plants vs. Zombies.

PlayStation Plus owners were treated to Stacking for free, for now. They also got access to the Killzone 3 single-player demo a week earlier than everyone else. The KZ3 demo comes in 2D and 3D editions, with the former being downloaded automatically. Read more »

PlayStation Store Adds Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, UnderGarden, Mega Man 2 for PSone and More

This week's PlayStation Store update has opened a veritable treasure trove of new content for PlayStation 3 and PSP users. On the top of our list of highlights is the PSone Classic Import of Mega Man 2. Everything else seems secondary.

Pac-Man Championship Edition Coming to PS Minis Tomorrow for $5

Namco Bandai's modern spin on its legendary Pac-Man character is coming to the PlayStation Store tomorrow, in the form of a PlayStation Mini.

Listed in a recent post on the PlayStation Blog (and priced and dated in the comments), the original Pac-Man Championship Edition will launch alongside the rest of the PSN's fresh content tomorrow, priced at $4.99. Read more »

The demo of Bulletstorm features a number of rewards for being unkind to intimate body parts, while the $15 PS3 port of Wii on-rails shooter Dead Space Extraction--which also has a demo--freely blasts limbs off poor, innocent corpses.

Shack PSA: Bulletstorm Demo on Xbox 360, PS3 Today; Crysis 2 Multiplayer Beta on Live

Two of 2011's most anticipated titles have been teased in the most interactive way possible: demos. Trials for People Can Fly's Bulletstorm and Crytek's Crysis 2 are now available.

Bulletstorm's previously announced demo can be downloaded on the Xbox Live Marketplace right now, with a PlayStation 3 version expected to hit the PlayStation Store along with Tuesday evening's regular content update. Read more »

PlayStation Store Update Adds Angry Birds, MicroBot, Tetris and More

It's a good week for addictive puzzlers in the PlayStation Store, as yesterday's weekly refresh of the digital shop added shiny new versions of block-based classic Tetris and immensely popular fling 'em up Angry Birds for Sony's game-o-trons.

The update also saw the launch of Fantastic Voyage-ish shooter MicroBot, a handful of demos and the regulation helping of downloadable content. Swing 'em up Bionic Commando Rearmed is being offered for $4.99, on sale down from $13.99. Read more »

EA's MicroBot Coming to PSN Tomorrow

EA's cellular level shooter MicroBot, available now on Xbox Live Arcade, will be coming to the PlayStation Network tomorrow as part of Sony's regular PlayStation Store update.

In MicroBot, players battle malicious enemies as they travel through the bloodstream, bones, lungs and brain. The rhythms and fluids of the human body create a dynamic environment that affects movement and gameplay, providing both combat advantages and additional hazards to overcome. As players eradicate the biotechnological infestation, they will harvest data fragments which allow them to unlock over 20 pieces of upgradable microtechnology. Using this newly acquired technology, players can strategically customize their MicroBot; with millions of possible configurations, players can build a MicroBot to suit any style of play.

In the final PlayStation Store update before the holidays, a new wave of content has arrived to keep you inside and warm as chestnuts roast on an open fire nearby.

NEOGEO Games Come to PS3 and PSP to Celebrate 20th Annivesary

A handful of NEOGEO titles will be coming to the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable through the "NEOGEO Station" on the PlayStation Store.

An initial offering of 10 games will be available with the PS3 versions selling for $8.99 and PSP versions going for $6.99, though only two of the games will be available today for the PSP. The rest will be released in 2011 along with other NEOGEO games. Read more »
