Telltale's The Walking Dead takes the dystopian world of the original comic books, and turns it into an active experience--evoking the kind of emotion that can only be possible through games.
Serving as a prequel to the ongoing comic book series from Robert Kirkman, The Walking Dead's story begins with a convict named Lee. What he is beyond that opening scene is entirely up to the player. He can be a guy caught in an unfortunate circumstance, a brave leader, an unrepentant jerk, or even a silent protagonist. He's a conduit of player choice.

Like Flower before it, Journey is a deceptively simple game that belies its aspirational experience. The game begins inexplicably with a vast desert stretching out ahead, and no direction of what to do. It needs none; instincts kick in and the game immediately lives up to its title.
From beginning to end, Journey elicits a profound emotional response. Controls consist of nothing more than movement and jumping, but it does these with such grace, that never once does it feel like something is missing. Setting emotions aside for a moment, simply playing Journey provides many memories that capably stand on their mechanics alone. From effortlessly gliding over and above the shifting sands to platforming through visually spectacular environments Journey delivers a fantastic controller-in-my-hands game. This is not an art game for which one must make special accommodations to see its beauty.

Simply put, Urban Trial Freestyle is a ripoff of the Trials games. But RedLynx's successful motocross franchise hasn't ever graced a PlayStation platform, making it a ripe opportunity for competitors to take advantage of. Tate Multimedia's offering is targeting both PS3 and Vita via PlayStation Network, and is largely successful at capturing the addictive gotta-try-it-again gameplay of the games that inspired it.

Today, Dust 514 makes its transition from closed beta to open beta. But what does that really mean? We spoke to CCP executive producer Brandon Laurino about the EVE Online shooter, and their plans for the future--near and far.
"For us, it really is a true open beta," Laurino told us. "It's not just a term for some indefinite period where we make excuses for why this or that isn't working," when we asked if this beta would be akin to Gmail.

Frozenbyte is definitely going to work on a new Trine game in the future. "As for the Trine franchise, it is clearly our most successful," a rep for the developer commented, "making a third installment a no-brainer."
However, the developer doesn't want to rush into a Trine 3, because "we don't want it to feel like Trine 2.5, but rather a large leap and something even more awe-inspiring. So that might take a while."
