If you were lucky enough to be in Seattle over the weekend, you might have seen an extended gameplay demonstration for The Last of Us at PAX Prime. Originally shown behind closed doors at E3, this demo made its public debut at Penny Arcade Expo. Sony has now released the video online, so that all may see.
This demo features less emphasis on action-combat, and offers a greater look at the game's puzzles, stealth elements, and enemy AI. It lasts a whopping fifteen minutes in all, which should sate your fix for Naughty Dog's latest. Check it out below.

Hyperviolence was all the rage at this year's E3. However, only one hyperviolent game could take the crown. The Game Critics Awards have finally been determined, and Naughty Dog has come on top with The Last of Us. Its strong performance pushed PS3 to the top of the heap, with PS3 as the most-winning platform. Sony Computer Entertainment is the most-winning publisher as well, with 7 awards.

The Last of Us shocked the gaming community when it made its surprise debut at the VGAs late last year. Having just shipped Uncharted 3, no one expected developer Naughty Dog to have another game in the works so soon. The home of Nathan Drake was no longer a one game studio, it was revealed. After the end of Uncharted 2, the studio split into two.
Ever since its reveal, The Last of Us has been shrouded in some mystery. While the developers have talked up many of the game's ambitious goals, little is known about how it actually plays. Finally seeing the game in action, it's easy to sum up Naughty Dog's latest as such: Uncharted in hardcore mode.

Joel and Ellie, the two unlikely heroes starring in The Last of Us, are aren't beyond committing some justified vehicular manslaughter. In a freshly-revealed cut-scene from the action-survival title that's in development at Naughty Dog, two things are evident: the world the protagonists find themselves in is dangerous, and the developer behind the Uncharted series hasn't lost its chops when it comes to creating cinematics.

Inspired by Indiana Jones, the Uncharted series is one of the most cinematic productions in gaming right now. Instead of waiting for the live action Hollywood adaptation of the franchise, morphinapg on YouTube decided to take matters into his own hands: edit footage of all three games in the series into three feature-length films.
To do so, morphinapg not only grabbed every cinematic from the games, he also added the "minimum amount of gameplay" necessary to make sure the story would still make sense to someone that's never played the game.

Naughty Dog has pulled back the curtain on some concepts that didn't make the cut for Uncharted 3. At GDC 2012, the company outlined alternative environments, expanded levels, and gameplay mechanics that were chopped for one reason or another, and now it's making that information public.

Developer Naughty Dog has announced that a new piece of cooperative DLC for Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception will be hitting the PlayStation Network on March 13. The mode features eight rounds in which players are put up against multiple waves of progressively difficult opponents. The opposition players will face doesn't consist of your standard pirates or mercenaries, but is instead comprised of the fiery, teleporting Djinn seen in the game's single-player campaign.

The Last of Us, in many ways, is an extension of the work Naughty Dog has already done on the Uncharted franchise. Like the adventures of Nathan Drake, it is a third-person cover shooter with a strong emphasis on AI companions. However, unlike Uncharted, The Last of Us is supposed to be a survival game. And with that change, the gameplay must be tweaked.
"There's more consequences to getting shot," director Neil Druckmann explained. Instead of having automatically regenerating health--a standard feature in most shooters--the team is opting to have "persistent health," harking back to the era of the health pack.

Naughty Dog has promised fourteen DLC drops for Uncharted 3's multiplayer mode. One month after the release of the first Flashback Map Pack comes the first new add-on for the game's co-op mode.
The "Fort Co-Op Adventure" will be available later today on the PlayStation Store for $5.99. It marks the first time in the series that you'll be able to play cooperatively with Uncharted villians. The expansion stars Zoran Lazarevic, Eddy Raja, and Harry Flynn exploring "the mystery behind the Janus head statue from the on-disc co-op adventure."

The Last of Us is a lonely story of two survivors traveling a ruined, post-apocalyptic world. It's hard to imagine how online play fits into that equation, but Naughty Dog says the game will feature some kind of online component. However, even the developer doesn't seem to know what it will be yet.

The Last of Us is Naughty Dog's first new property since Uncharted: Drake's Fortune launched in 2007, but the developer first considered returning to its Jak and Daxter series. In a recent interview, co-president Evan Wells revealed that the team looked at the idea "fairly extensively," but couldn't quite make it work.
"Something that we talked about early on was, 'Lets go back and apply what we've learned with the Uncharted games to Jak & Daxter,'" Evans said.

The most surprising reveal at the Spike TV VGAs last year was The Last of Us, a new not-zombie-filled adventure game from Naughty Dog. As with Naughty Dog's Uncharted franchise, The Last of Us takes full advantage of the studio's motion capture equipment. In a new behind-the-scenes video, you'll see actors Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson running around in their ball-speckled skintight suits, pretending to fight fungus-infected undead.
