Primal Carnage: Genesis brings dinosaurs to PS4 and PC

It's time to fight more dinosaurs. At a PlayStation "Indie Arcade" event at GDC 2013, Lukewarm Media revealed Primal Carnage: Genesis--an Unreal Engine 4-powered single-player follow-up to its multiplayer shooter.

Coming to both PS4 and PC, the game aims to "resurrect the immersive dinosaur first person experience that people have been waiting for" across a mix of tropical and man-made environments. Instead of coming in a traditional $60 box, Lukewarm plans to release the adventure episodically.

Get to the chopper in free Primal Carnage DLC

"Get to the chopper!" More than a hilarious reference to the movie Predator for one to yell at any opportunity, it's also a new mode coming to dinosaur vs. human multiplayer shooter Primal Carnage as free DLC. As you may guess, the mode involves journeying to a helicopter, but unfortunately an awful lot of dinos are along the way.

There are numerous class-based shooters available in the gaming landscape. So far, none of them feature playable dinosaurs. Indie developer Lukewarm Media looks to change that with Primal Carnage, an online multiplayer class-based shooter that pits a team of human mercenaries against a team of dinosaurs.

A military-controlled island is the setting for Primal Carnage's team deathmatch. Players will choose between five human classes or five dinosaur classes, though the production team notes that the game will shuffle players between human and dinosaur after a certain number of matches. Humans consist of Commando, Pathfinder, Trapper, Pyro, and Scientist, while dinosaurs are comprised of the T-Rex, Raptor, Dilophosaurus, Pteranodon, and Compsognathus. The humans are controlled in a first-person view, while the dinosaurs are seen through a third-person perspective.
