Lionhead hit with layoffs after latest Fable release

No sooner does Fable: The Journey hit shelves and developer Lionhead Studios is facing staff reductions. Despite the layoffs, Microsoft insists that another 100 people will be hired by June of next year.

Fable: The Journey preview

Lionhead Studios promises it "hasn't f---ed up" the Fable franchise with The Journey, a Kinect-exclusive on-rails adventure. The Kinect controls take some getting used to, but when it works, it does feel like magic.

Molyneux: Milo killed because industry isn't 'ready' for such emotions

The reason Lionhead's virtual boy simulator Milo and Kate ended up scrapped, Peter Molyneux has said, is because, "I just don't think that this industry is ready for something as emotionally connecting as something like Milo."

Phil Harrison to oversee Microsoft's European game studios

Microsoft has announced that former Sony boss Phil Harrison will be the "senior leader" of their Interactive Entertainment Business in Europe, and will oversee Lionhead Studios, Soho Productions, and Rare Ltd.

Peter Molyneux leaves Lionhead

Industry legend Peter Molyneux is leaving Lionhead Studios and parent company Microsof, 15 years after he co-founded the developer behind Fable and Black & White. He's becoming creative director at new company 22 Cans, joining former Lionhead CTO Tim Ranc
