Pacific Rim is a blockbuster movie about big stompy robots punching giant monsters in their stupid monster faces. It includes grade-A cheese like the line, "Today we are canceling the apocalypse!" It even features the voice of GLaDOS, Ellen McLain, as a computer. The point is, it sounds so much like a video game already that of course it had to be adapted into one as well.

Developments on the Warcraft movie front keep getting more interesting. First, we find out that Moon and Source Code director Duncan Jones would be taking over for Sam Raimi. Now we hear that the man behind the Academy Award winning visual effects team for Life of Pi will be directing the effects in the world of Azeroth.

Film production company Legendary Entertainment has found a new writer to helm its Mass Effect movie adaptation. Legendary picked relatively unknown writer Morgan Davis Foehl to head up the new draft. Foehl is said to be a fan of the game series, and has a background in writing action-espionage scripts.

Spider-Man and The Evil Dead director Sam Raimi signed up to direct the long-planned World of Warcraft movie adaptation way back in 2009, but we've heard little about it since. At Comic-Con, though, Raimi revealed that he's no longer on the project, but it does seem to be going ahead.

Mass Effect is getting a film treatment, and a few of the additional details have slipped out. Following Comic-Con, Legendary Pictures held a fan Q&A which has revealed that the movie will, unsurprisingly, feature the male version of Shepard. When asked if the movie will be a trilogy, the production team simply responded: "We are really focused on making this a great movie, so we'll see where it takes us. We have to get the first one right to know whether there will be more."
