GameStop cross-gen promo lets you upgrade from Xbox 360 game to Xbox One for $10

Call of Duty: Ghosts will be out November 5th. Madden NFL 25 will be out August 27th. FIFA 14 will be out September 14th. Battlefield 4 will be out October 29th. And Assassin's Creed 4 will be out October 29th. But Xbox One will probably come after the release of these current-gen games. So that gives gamers a rather difficult choice: wait a few extra weeks for a next-gen version, or get started ASAP by buying current-gen?

GameStop is trying to tackle this cross-gen dilemma with a rather unique trade-in promo. By buying these cross-gen games on Xbox 360, customers will be able to "upgrade" to the Xbox One version for only $10.

Wii U inventory being 'rebalanced' by Nintendo

There are currently two versions of Wii U available to buy: a cheaper 8GB model and the "Deluxe" 32GB model. The former may become harder to find in stores, however.

Charlie Scibetta, Nintendo of America's senior director of Corporate Communications, told Polygon that the company is "working with its retail partners to simply rebalance the stock of the White 8GB and the Black 32GB Wii U models in the market. Consumers looking for either model will continue to find them available."

GameStop closing 250 stores, opening 60-70 in 2013

Retail giant GameStop will be closing approximately 250 stores in 2013, but will be opening 60-70 new ones during the same period. This is part of an apparent consolidation effort, to close locations that have grown unprofitable or only marginally profitable, while funneling customers toward other nearby locations.

Report: Wii U to launch November 18, claims peripheral manufacturer

Peripheral manufacturer PDP may have accidentally outed the release date of the Wii U. According to reports, a representative from the company told attendees of the GameStop Expo that the Wii U will be available November 18. The date would fall in line with Nintendo's history of releasing new hardware and big software titles prior to Black Friday, the busiest shopping day before the holidays.

GameStop DLC program allows remote downloads

Related Topics – xbox 360, GameStop, Xbox Live

Sales of digital downloads have become a new source of revenue for brick-and-mortar retailers. GameStop has been selling codes for digital games and DLC for quite some time, and plans on enhancing the experience by initiating remote downloads in-store.

A new system implemented by GameStop will let customers avoid inputting lengthy alphanumeric codes used for DLC purchases in the past. Instead, customers will receive an email link that will initiate the download remotely--even if they're still miles away from their console.

GameStop Expo 2012 open to the public

For the first time ever, GameStop's annual conference will be open to the public. For years, the expo served as a way for employees to get previews of upcoming games to better sell them to potential customers. With major publishers like Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony, Activision, and EA attending the expo, it's essentially GameStop's private E3.

Well, it's not private anymore. The company has announced that its 2012 expo will be open to the public--so long as you're carrying a PowerUp Rewards card.
