Firaxis has announced two more of the nine cultures being added to Civilization 5's Brave New World expansion. Indonesia and Morocco will join the set, joining Poland, Brazil, Assyria, Zulu, and Portugal, with two civilizations still remaining to be revealed.

Firaxis and 2K Games have been busy with Apple's iOS platform. On top of Haunted Hollow, the studio behind XCOM: Enemy Unknown has released another free-to-play game for Apple's mobile devices. This one comes from Sid Meier and ventures to the days of World War I. Sid Meier's Ace Patrol is a turn-based strategy game that mixes in enough RPG elements to make you want to fly beyond the free-to-play horizon.

You often hear the expression "Christmas in July," but this is the first time I've seen Halloween come in May. That appears to be the case in the latest 1v1 turn-based strategy game for iOS from Firaxis (XCOM: Enemy Unknown, Civilization V) and 2K Games. Despite its odd release window, Haunted Hollow proves to be charming and engaging, even managing to overcome many typical free-to-play tropes.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown patch to make Easy easier

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is not a particularly easy game, even on the mode that is literally called "Easy." 2K has announced it will address this in an upcoming patch, along with various other bug fixes. It didn't detail exactly how the game will be made easier, but presumably it has something to do with making fewer of the aliens big stupid jerks.

Civilization Online announced for Asian territories

Take-Two is pushing its Civilization franchise into Asia, with a model very popular in the region. Firaxis and South Korean studio XLGAMES are working together to develop Civilization Online (working title), a massively multiplayer online-only game catered to the Asian market. XLGAMES CEO Jake Song, known for the Korean MMORPG Lineage, is heading up the project.
