EA suffers Q2 losses; FIFA and Madden standout performers

EA's second fiscal quarter performance was hit with highs and lows. While the company reported a net loss of $340 million for the period ending September 30, 2011, EA did announce that it had shipped "nearly" eight million units of FIFA 12, which makes up half of the game's 16 million ship-to-date lifetime. Sales for the franchise has jumped 25 percent, year-over-year, EA reports.

Net revenue for the company was up to $715 million; however, EA's bottom line did not improve versus the same period last year where it reported a net loss of $201 million. In Q2 2011, EA's operating costs for research and development and marketing and sales jumped versus last year. Combined costs in 2010 were reported at $252 million, whereas 2011 was tagged at $374 million.

Take-Two reports loss; Duke 'projected' to be profitable

In Take-Two Interactive's first quarter report for its fiscal 2012, the company posted a downturn in net revenue of $334.4 million versus $375.4 million in its pre-shifted, fiscal 2010 report.

Take-Two's first quarter, fiscal 2012 shows a loss of $8.6 million. Strong sales of Red Dead Redemption during its last reported April-June gave the the company a net income profit of $26.3 million, putting the current reported period in a challenging position.
