What's the most profitable Final Fantasy ever? If you guessed Final Fantasy VII, you'd be wrong. Final Fantasy XI has earned Square Enix the most bank, thanks to its loyal paying subscriber base. "Looking at profitability, it's the top of all past FF games," CEO Yoichi Wada explained at a recent Vana Fest event.
Given the ongoing success of Final Fantasy's first MMO, Square Enix has announced a surprise expansion pack. Coming five years after the last expansion, "Seekers of Adoulin" will be available in 2013.

Chibi characters, beat-matching gameplay, and the music of Final Fantasy. Theatrhythm should have everything a Square Enix fan could possibly want from a music game, absurd title and all.
Although there are RPG dressings--such as experience points, stats, and leveling up--the core gameplay invites comparisons to Elite Beat Agents. Like iNIS' original DS game, you'll have to use the stylus to tap the screen in time with the rhythm of the song. Beats are represented by various colored circles, some of which will require holding down on the screen, or swiping in a specific direction.

Square Enix left dangling plot threads at the end of Final Fantasy XIII-2, and has promised more story through downloadable episodes. Sazh: Heads or Tails, on sale now for $4.99 (400 MSP) is the first such piece of DLC. It holds the dubious honor of being not only our first glimpse at Square Enix's content plans for this game, but its first tentative step into delivering story episodes as DLC in the main Final Fantasy series.
The story, however, is barely present at all. Minor spoilers follow.
