The classic RTS campaign is a stodgy affair, with mission following mission and maybe a side-mission or two if you're lucky. R.U.S.E. developer Eugen Systems has gone a little more exciting with its next game Wargame: AirLand Battle, using a dynamic campaign where you can hit regions across the campaign map as you please, but each decision has a consequence.

Developer Eugen Systems has announced it is developing a new RTS game to add to its growing stable of franchises in the genre, this time with the alternate history title Wargame: European Escalation.
Set in the "rarely explored period of 1975-1985," Wargame: European Escalation focuses on two sides of a growing battle: the United States and Western Europe versus the Soviet Union and the Eastern European countries. "The specter of nuclear warfare loomed large over the real Cold War, but this catastrophic outcome was the ultimate last resort as everyone knew that the first one to start nuclear hostilities would end up wiped out just the same," a press release detailed. The latest trailer for R.U.S.E., Eugen Systems' strategic war game, describes the development of the game's new real-time interface and the inclusion of deception-based tactics.
The game's senior producer, Mathieu Girard, explains that players will be able to use espionage and set traps in order to trick their opponents and emerge victoriously from a series of historically-based battles from World War II. Read more »

Act of War: Direct Action developer Eugen and publisher Ubisoft today revealed their upcoming project, a "one of a kind" real-time strategy game called R.U.S.E.
Coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 by the end of Ubisoft's next fiscal year--March 31, 2010--the game focuses on deception, misdirection and bluffing one's enemies. It's powered by the IRISZOOM Engine, said to let players zoom in from a satellite view all the way down to the ground of the battlefield. Read more »
