Awesomenauts publisher files for insolvency, PSN release on schedule

Update - Sony has tweeted that Awesomenauts will launch tomorrow as planned on the PlayStation Network, and will still be free for PlayStation Plus subscribers.

Original Story - Publisher dtp entertainment filed for insolvency yesterday, throwing the impending release of Awesomenauts into doubt. The German publisher has also been behind games like Divinity II and The Cursed Crusade, and now is in the uncomfortable position of needing to reorganize or liquidate its assets.

"Russian monkeys with jetpacks, giant robots, and lots of other mighty aliens" are promised by today's announcement of Awesomenauts from Ronimo Games, the studio founded by de Blob's initial creators after they sold its rights to THQ. The downloadable title's gameplay sounds as unusual as its stylings--a sidescrolling MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena, or DotA game to you and me).

Gray Matter for PC Arrives in North America This February

Jane Jensen's long-awaited next video game effort will finally arrive in North America this February, publisher dtp Entertainment revealed. The victim of multiple delays since its original unveiling in 2003, the adventure title Gray Matter launched in Germany late last year.

Death's Busty Daughter Stars in Venetica

Adventure game developer Deck13 and German publisher dtp entertainment today revealed Venetica, an old-timey RPG starring Scarlett, the daughter of Death.

Due out on Xbox 360 and PC in 2009, the game details Scarlett's journey as she attempts to save the world and her father from a necromancer dictator that seeks to destroy the world and has corrupted the council that commands Death. Read more »
