Hot on the heels of their downloadable high-def remake of Serious Sam: The First Encounter, developer Croteam and publisher Digital Devolver announced back in November of last year that they also planned to give the HD-remake treatment to the first-person-shooter's sequel. Today, Digital Devolver has released some shiny new screens to tease Serious Sam HD: The Second Encounter, the obviously-titled sequel's remake.

Open-world, destruction-causing fans take note: the demo for Avalanche's Just Cause 2 will be released for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 next Thursday, March 4th. The PC demo will be available through Valve's Steam platform.
I had a chance to preview the game earlier this week and found it extremely fun. It's definitely worth a free download on your platform of choice. The demo will serve up 35-square miles of the full version's 400-square mile playable area.

Thanks to a sponsorship deal between Electronic Arts, Falken Tire and Discount Tire, we've got a new PC demo for Slighty Mad's recently released racer Need For Speed SHIFT.
On top of the two tracks (London River, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps) and five cars that were part of the original demo, the 'Falken Tires' demo adds an exclusive vehicle: the Falken Porsche GT3 RSR.

Over on the official PlayStation Blog Sony has announced a 'Gran Turismo Time Trial Challenge' demo that will be available for free via the PlayStation Network on December 17th. In it players climb behind the wheel of two different versions of the new Nissan 370Z - one in stock configuration, and the other tuned for racing - and compete for the best times on a single track.
As if getting another playable peek at Gran Turismo 5 isn't enough, residents in the U.S. and Canada get a little extra incentive to perfect their driving skills by competing in nationwide racing contests (one for each country). The speed-demons who achieve the fastest combined race times for both vehicles before the contest ends at 5PM (PST) on January 25, 2010, will receive two tickets to the Indy 500 on May 30, 2010, round trip airfare there, and hotel accommodations. Got Game Entertainment has announced that it will be the North America publisher of Bohemia Interactive's battlefield simulator ArmA 2, bringing it to retail shelves on July 7.
While ArmA 2 is already on sale in Europe--published by 505 Games--and will be available through Steam from Friday June 26, NA retail release details were unknown.

Continuing the increasingly popular trend, Electronic Arts today announced that it has partnered with GameStop to provide those that pre-order Madden NFL 10 from the retailer with an "exclusive demo" of EA Tiburon's August 14-due game.
Pre-ordering either the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 edition of the football game from GameStop should net you a download code, with the demo due "by the end of July." Read more »

Available now on FileShack is The Path - Prologue, a demo of sorts for Tale of Tales' marvelous PC fairytale adventure, released in March to polar reactions of love and hate.
While much of the narrative and interaction is removed in this trial, you can wander freely in the enchanting forest and pick flowers to your heart's content. Those who have already walked The Path might fancy a potter to see what's new in the prologue's forest.

A demo for Digitalmindsoft's World War II real-time tactical title Men of War was released today. The demo contains the first level of the game, providing a look at the title's various systems. Grab the demo from FileShack.

Developed by The Farm 51--formed by two Painkiller veterans from People Can Fly--NecroVisioN hits Europe on February 20 and North America in the spring.

As had been expected, a F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin PC demo is now available and can be downloaded from FileShack. An Xbox 360 demo has been released as well, now available from the console's online marketplace, with a PS3 demo due later today.

As expected, a demo for the PC version of Tomb Raider: Underworld is now available. Like the Xbox 360 demo released earlier this week, the 1.20GB download offers an introductory level set in Thailand.

New at FileShack is a 1.86GB PC demo for Black Rock Studio's surprisingly awesome ATV racer Pure, which hit PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 earlier this month.
Even if you hate ATV games, Maarten and I encourage you to give Pure a shot. Similar to EA's beloved SSX series, the game rewards tricks with boost, providing additional depth beyond mere racing. More importantly, it's fun. Read more »

A demo is now available for the PC version of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, the action RPG from Ascaron Entertainment.The 1.71GB download includes several quests, one of the game's six player characters, and the game's High Elf region.
Sacred 2: Fall Angel will be released this November for the PC, with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 ports following in 2009.
