In an auctioning process, THQ has sold many of its studios and upcoming games. Sega has agreed to purchase Relic Entertainment, developer of the upcoming Company of Heroes 2. Given the publisher's penchant for PC strategy games (like the Total War series), Relic's future may be relatively safe in the House of Sonic. According to @DDInvesting, Sega fronted $26 million in the auction, proving they want ownership of the PC strategy space.
Koch Media, owner of the Deep Silver publishing label, has agreed to purchase publishing rights for Metro: Last Light, and Volition, developer of THQ's successful Saints Row franchise. Koch Media offered $22.3 million for Volition, $5.8 million for Metro.

Fans of classic Steven Seagal movie Under Siege, your prayers have been answered. Dead Island Riptide publisher Deep Silver today unveiled the zombie FPS-RPG's new fifth playable character, and he's the closest we may ever get to seeing old Steve's character star in a video game--a Navy cook with furious fists of martial arts fury.

Dead Island Riptide is following the footsteps of its predecessor by releasing a sappy pre-rendered trailer that is nothing like the game it is supposedly "inspired" by.
Similar to Dead Island's much-viewed teaser, When All Hope Is Lost shows what happens when "ordinary people" get caught in a zombie invasion. Emotional piano music accompanies a couple's tender embrace--before the zombies get to them, of course.

Sacred 3 has been on the fringes of our consciousness since Deep Silver took over the franchise in August 2009. We would get bits and pieces here and there, but more details on the upcoming action RPG being developed by Keen Games have finally been revealed.
There will again be a variety of classes to choose from, but it appears they will be different than those set out in Sacred 2: Fallen Angel. The only two announced classes are a Safiri Warrior and an Ancarian Lancer. The ultimate goal of the players will be to defeat the ruler of the oppressive Ashen Empire, Zane Ashen, and keep him from obtaining a powerful artifact known as the Heart of Ancaria. Some of the environments are making a return, including Castle Braverock.

The announcement of Dead Island Riptide at E3 was unusually terse, merely saying that such a game was being made for PC and consoles. How mysterious! Publisher Deep Silver has since realized it might need to show something of the game, and today released the FPS-RPG sequel's first screenshots and along with a few details. The five shots show our zombie-slaying heroes returning to pootle around in boats, mostly.

Sometimes publishers use E3 to spill their guts about a new game, blasting screenshots, fact sheets and trailers into our soft faces. Other times, they casually drop a small announcement then walk away, like a lout tossing an empty cola can on the pavement.
The latter's the case with Dead Island Riptide, Techland's sequel to zombie shooter-RPG Dead Island, announced at E3 by publisher Deep Silver for PC and consoles. And that's all we know.

Deep Silver has mastered the craft of deceiving customers with Dead Island, a game that played nothing like its dramatic, poignant debut trailer. So, of course it makes sense that the publisher would release a "Game of the Year" edition--because one outlet decided to give the game such a dubious award.

Sit right back and you'll hear a tale; a tale of a fateful trip into Piranha Bytes latest action-RPG, Risen 2: Dark Waters. Pirate-themed aesthetics replace the standard fantasy fare of orcs and elves but underneath that veneer beats the heart of a classic role-playing game. The resulting world of Risen 2 feels at once both fresh and familiar. There's a lot to like about the game, too, but it winds up being held back by issues such as its unintuitive leveling system and combat that's much more promising in concept than in practice. These problems hurt its accessibility and, though not insurmountable, can lead to frustration.

[Update - 04:34] Several errors have been corrected.
Three months after the iPad debut of multiplayer tower defense Defenders of Ardania, the PC and Xbox Live Arcade editions are limbering up to launch on March 14. While it cost $4.99 on iPad, the spin-off of the Majesty series will run you 1200 Microsoft Points ($15) on XBLA and presumably the same on PC.

Investment is a tricky topic to grasp for pirates, who simply bury their financial reserves in chests, and who often only have one hand. You, however, may be able to grapple with this--if you pre-order piratical RPG sequel Risen 2: Dark Waters, you get a DLC pack for free. That's a $10 saving if you like the game once it's launched and would buy the DLC, but what if you don't? Maybe pirates are wise to avoid such quandaries.
