The Nintendo 3DS's Circle Pad Pro was a curious accessory, a clunky thing adding a second analogue nub and two extra shoulder buttons to make the handheld less rubbish for console-y action games. It's mostly forgotten, only supported by a few games and incompatible with the updated 3DS XL. But hey, if you do own the big 3DS and want in on the analogue fun, Nintendo is finally releasing the XL version in North America this week.
We've known for a while now that Nintendo's revamp of the 3DS, the 3DS XL, would be getting its own Circle Pad Pro eventually. The company has now released an image of the upcoming add-on on, and it's about as awkward as you might expect from a peripheral that bolts a second stick on the side of a handheld.
Kid Icarus: Uprising was one of the first games announced for the Nintendo 3DS, but it's also among the ones taking the longest to release. The game was likely delayed to have time for the recently confirmed online multiplayer, but now we've learned the game is adopting the Circle Pad Pro as well -- albeit not how you may think.
