The Witcher 3 will feature more 'personal' story, twist ending

The Witcher 3 will feature more 'personal' story, twist ending

The Witcher 3 promises to end CD Projekt's RPG trilogy. Because this will be the last game starring Geralt, the story has been crafted to be much more personal than in The Witcher 2, lead quest designer Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz explained. "In the Witcher 2, we have dabbled a lot in the big politics... and some players, they liked that, but it was too much for them," he said. "Of course, we will keep those elements, but they won't be the main arc of the story. This time, the story will be more personal, it will involve what Geralt wants. It will revolve around Geralt and his close ones."

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the 'final episode' of the series, aiming for 2014 release

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the 'final episode' of the series, aiming for 2014 release

Following last night's early Game Informer leak, CD Projekt RED has officially announced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The game is not only the next game in the award-winning franchise, but it will also be "the final Witcher game from the studio."

"People may ask if this is really going to be the last Witcher game. Yes, it is," studio head Adam Badowski said in the announcement. "Why? Because we believe that we should end the series on a high note. Technology has progressed to where we can finally tell the story the way we want, with the visuals we want, in the world we imagined. This will be the ultimate fantasy RPG experience, and while we're hardly out of stories to tell, we believe it's time for us to look to new worlds and new horizons to keep pushing the boundaries of what we can create."

Cyberpunk 2077 trailer shows psycho girl gone wild

Update: Includes comments from the developer found in hidden message at the end of the trailer.

CD Projekt Red already had us intrigued with the thought of a Cyberpunk 2020-style game teleported some 57 years into the future. But its first teaser for Cyberpunk 2077 showing a bloodied blonde with alien-like augments kneeling in the middle of a mass of bodies just raised this game quite high on my want-to-play list. Oh, and bullets shatter on her face.

You know what would be great? If there were more of The Witcher 2 to play. Thankfully, developer CD Projekt RED plans on giving fans the ability to create their own missions in The Witcher 2 with the release of REDkit.

The modding toolset lets you easily create new missions within the company's REDengine. It is currently in "closed beta," with over a hundred modding teams given early access to the tools. In addition, "these modders will assist in the development and perfection of the tools and the game engine itself."

CD Projekt RED's game based on the Cyberpunk 2020 pen-and-paper RPG is going way into the future. The game will be set in the same world created by Mike Pondsmith, but will be set in the "dark future" of the year 2077. By jumping into the future, players will be able to visit places from 2020 and see how it has been changed over the decades. "Players will have a chance to visit places well known from Cyberpunk 2020, including a combat zone completely taken over by gangs, the legendary Afterlife joint and the nostalgic Forlorn Hope," the announcement details.

Cyberpunk promises 'smoother learning curve' over The Witcher

CD Projekt RED is moving from swords and arcane runes to neon and future-tech with Cyberpunk. While it may be a drastic shift, the developer is using lessons learned from The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings.
