The second act of Kentucky Route Zero has been pushed out of its late-April release window and into mid-May. According to the studio's monthly newsletter, the delay was caused by an unexpected amount of work from the Independent Game Festival, distribution, and trouble-shooting for "a larger number of players than we anticipated."

Indie developer Cardboard Computer (A House in California, Hummingbird Mind) has just released the first act of its new episodic adventure game called Kentucky Route Zero. For adventure game fans, a cursory look at the newly-released trailer is almost guaranteed to intrigue, with an art-style reminiscent of the PC classic, Out of This World. The game also marks the first major paid-release collaboration between Cardboard Computer founder Jake Elliott and his partner in crime, Tamas Kemenczy.

Looking for something atypical and thoughtful to play this weekend? If you've got twenty minutes or so to spare, I highly recommend checking out the latest free offering from Cardboard Computer, called Ruins (shown above). Developer Jake Elliott (A House in California) describes the project as something he developed over the past year when he needed a breather from working on other projects like the upcoming Kentucky Route Zero.
