Even though the surprise has been somewhat spoiled by a Trophy leak, Bethesda's tease of the next Dishonored downloadable content sheds a little more light on it. A screenshot released by the company today hints at who you'll be playing as, and more importantly, when. Spoilers to follow.

Why are three factions at war in The Elder Scrolls Online? Because MMORPG's often use large-scale conflict to add a sense of importance to their repetitive quests. Oh no, but that's too simple. When I initially played the previous downloadable content for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, nothing seemed amiss. The handful of new areas and pieces of loot littered around the familiar landscape were what I had come to expect from DLC. But now that I've played the "Dragonborn" expansion, the others simply pale in comparison. If you were unlucky enough to pick the PlayStation 3 as your platform of choice for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, your hopes for extra content have been as cold and barren as Skyrim itself. The Xbox 360 has been first to the party due to exclusivity arrangements, and the PC has the mod scene to keep it occupied while it waits, but Bethesda has had serious setbacks on PS3. The company has announced that it is putting aside the PS3 releases of Dawnguard and Hearthfire for the time being to focus on the latest expansion, Dragonborn.

A few years ago, the idea that the sandbox-y first-person stealth-ish shooter could ever find a second wind would be met with sorry sighs. Delightfully, after Deus Ex: Human Revolution last year and now Dishonored, the future's looking grand for the genre time almost forgot. Dishonored publisher Bethesda Softworks has said that sales of Arkane's sneak 'em up are "far exceeding" expectations, and dubbed it "a new franchise."

It's the season of heavy holiday hitters for the games industry, but if you're more of a classic connoisseur you might prefer strolls down memory lane. To that end, a "Doom Classic Complete" set is hitting the PlayStation Network today, and it packs three of the hell-heavy titles together.

"Elder Scrolls Online... everything you need about it is right in the name: it's Elder Scrolls but it's online," creative director Paul Sage says in a 9-minute video showing off the first gameplay snippets from ZeniMax's MMORPG. And indeed it certainly does seem to be so. Our John was not pleased with what he saw of TESO at E3, but does this pique your interest?
