We've heard of Collector's Editions and Special Editions and Limited Editions, but a Signature Edition sounds downright classy. We can only assume that was the motivation behind the newly announced Signature Edition of Assassin's Creed Revelations, which gets an automatic upgrade for GameStop pre-orders.
Ubisoft announced that both the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game will get a free upgrade to the Signature Edition at GameStop. The package includes a bonus single-player mission, an exclusive multiplayer character, upgrades to your weapon capacity, an animated Assassin's Creed short film, and the game's soundtrack. Ubisoft's Marc Parenteau talked briefly about Assassin's Creed at a joint press conference with Nintendo today. While he couldn't confirm if the title would be a new title made exclusively for the Wii U, or a port, he did note that the current engine translates very well to Nintendo's new platform.
Speaking about the unique Wii U controller, Parenteau noted that there were "many possibilities" for the additional screen, including a persistent on-screen map, the ability to switch weapons using touch, an interactive database, and puzzles specific to the touch screen. Even Eagle Vision may be placed on the second screen. Read more »

Though the company wasn't exactly keeping it a trade secret, Ubisoft officially announced Assassin's Creed Revelations today. The game is being developed by Ubisoft Montreal, with support from Ubisoft studios Annecy, Massive Entertainment, Quebec, Singapore, and Bucharest. It's set for PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 in November, which means earlier reports of a new packaged game this year were spot-on.

Ubisoft may be joining the ARG train, with a Facebook page that drops hints towards the next Assassin's Creed game. Liking the page unlocks a looping Flash teaser. Savvy NeoGAF users noticed a logo embedded in the Flash file for "Assassin's Creed Revelations." Also notable in the file are scrawled words that have been interpreted as "Altair," the protagonist from the first game.
The file is being periodically updated with new scraps of info, and the latest catch is an image of the Phaistos Disc, a famous archeological mystery from Greece in the 2nd millennium BC era. So far attempts to decipher the symbols on the disc have been unsuccessful. This could be a hint of ACR's setting, or just Ubisoft throwing us a curve ball. Read more »
