Over the last week, the staff at Shacknews have detailed its most anticipated titles of the year. The rules were firm: each main contributor selected a number of different titles to highlight and gave his or her reasons as to why it's on their "Watch List."
While there was a lot of crossover in the selection process, we decided to each pick different games. We did this purposefully to highlight as many games as we could. So, for example, while Alice was the staffer that named Duke Nukem Forever in her picks, everyone on staff is looking forward to finally stepping into his gruff shoes. Read more »

2011 is shaping up to be a great year for video games. Here at Shacknews we've pored over the treasure trove of titles coming this year and each picked out a select few games to highlight. It's up to Garnett to close it out with his most anticipated of 2011.
Guild Wars 2: Guild Wars earned a loyal following for being the online multiplayer RPG that wasn't trying to be World of Warcraft (WoW). Buy the game, create your character, and play with friends without forking over a monthly fee. Adventures all took place in instances, unique versions of the world created for your group, as opposed to the massive world of WoW. And the game did a nice job of creating both a rich set of PvE quests and PvP arenas. Read more »

Dragon Age 2: Some fans are approaching this sequel with trepidation. The first game's varied prologues and rich customization features have been replaced by a more focused origin story and lead character. Batman: Arkham City: Back when Rocksteady released Batman: Arkham Asylum, it didn't take long for perception to shift from "Oh great, another superhero game," to "Best superhero game, ever!!!" And rightfully so, largely due to the game's excellent presentation and core fighting and sleuthing mechanics that managed to make you feel like the Batman himself. Read more »

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim: After years of waiting, it's finally happening: Bethesda is continuing the Elder Scrolls series. I've been a fan of the franchise since before the age of Morrowind, so it comes as no surprise that my most anticipated title of the year is the fifth game in the series. My enthusiasm for the game isn't just blind fanboyism either. Bethesda promises a bevy of fixes, which includes a (desperately needed) new engine. Read more »
