Payday 2, the sequel to 2011's Payday: The Heist, is no longer a download exclusive. Publisher 505 Games and developer Overkill Software announced today that in addition to its digital releases, the game will be available at retail for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
David Goldfarb said in a press release: "We have a bit of a problem here at Overkill--there are just too many great ideas and none that we were really happy to throw out--so Payday 2 has become just too big to reserve release on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network alone."

Snoop Dogg's original rhythm-combat game Way of the Dogg is available today on Xbox Live Marketplace for 800 Microsoft Points ($10). (The game is inspired before Snoop went on his Jamaican vision-quest and started calling himself Snoop Lion, of course.) Publisher 505 Games also noted that it will be coming soon to PlayStation Network and mobile platforms as well.

Nordic Games has picked up most of THQ's remaining IPs. The bankrupt publisher sold its biggest names at an auction earlier this year. Its remaining assets were bundled up, with Nordic Games the big winner.
For $4.9 million, the company has acquired Darksiders, Red Faction, MX vs ATV, "Other Owned Software," and "Other Licensed Software." Some noteworthy titles in those bundles include Destroy All Humans, Supreme Commander, Marvel Super Hero Squad, Frontlines, and Full Spectrum Warrior.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, the story of two lost brothers searching for their missing father, is near completion and is rapidly approaching its release window. Swedish filmmaker and game director Josef Fares wanted to show just how far Brothers has come since our last preview, so Shacknews was given the opportunity to go hands on with an early chapter from Starbreeze Studios' latest.

Hot on the heels of Terraria's Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 launch this week, publisher 505 Games today announced the delightful 2D dig 'em up is also coming to Vita. Unlike many excavation games, Terraria is also heavy on evisceration, with heaps of craftable weapons--including a machinegun made from sharks--to unleash on some honking great monsters.

The console editions of delightful downloadable dig 'em up Terraria will launch next week, publisher 505 Games announced today. "Oh, pssh, sure, a digging game, like we're not awash with Minecraft clones already" you scoff, person I imagined for rhetorical effect. Hold your tongue! The 2D Terraria, which set PC gamers swooning in 2011, is a far more action-y take on making holes in the ground, with fine weapons to craft and honking great bosses to kill.

If you enjoy watching bullets tear through the internal organs of Nazis in slow motion, good news! Sniper Elite 3 is in the works for release on PC, current consoles, and next-gen gameboxes in 2014, publisher 505 Games announced today. While last year's Sniper Elite V2 was Rebellion remaking the original snipe 'em up, this time it's a proper shiny new game, going a bit more sandbox-y.

"Imagine the perfect robbery: you know the blueprints inside out, when the guards go for their coffee breaks, and exactly how to get into the safe. Everything goes without a hitch, and by the time the safe is found, you're laughing. Not a shot fired. Payday: The Heist doesn't work like that."
Eurogamer's review of the original Payday is an apt summary of what Payday could have been. That's not to say that Overkill's heist game was bad--far from it. But it lacked the brains to match the brute force of the game's cooperative shooting.
Enter Payday 2. Overkill, now owned by Starbreeze, has been given a second chance at making the Payday game they've always wanted to, offering players the chance to make the perfect score.

Takedown was unusual amongst crowd-funded games in that developer Serellan was looking to make a prototype, which it would then shop around to raise more money and actually make the game. Unconventional, but it's worked. Publisher 505 Games today announced that it has picked up the tactical FPS and will release it later this year under the name Takedown: Red Sabre.

Sniper Elite V2 came with multiplayer on PC because developer Rebellion self-published that edition and could do as it jolly well pleased, but console publisher 505 Games initially had no interest in online offerings. The snipe 'em up evidently sold well as it pulled a u-turn on that, and from today consoleers can shoot each others faces off too.

Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons is Starbreeze Studio's next game, a downloadable title that's aiming to do some pretty clever things when it comes to in-game storytelling. The project was conceived by award-winning Swedish filmmaker Josef Fares, and tells the tale of a couple of young siblings who embark on a quest to find a cure for their ailing father. Fares, who is serving as both game and creative director on the project, stopped by to demonstrate an early build of the game last month, which turns out to be a visually-impressive, creative, and surprisingly ambitious adventure game.

Poor Naughty Bear. All he wanted was to be friends with his fellow bears and join in their bearscapades, but they didn't like him and his video game was a bit rubbish. Everyone deserves a second chance, though, and his will come soon. Publisher 505 has announced that Behaviour Interactive's downloadable sequel Naughty Bear: Panic in Paradise is coming to PlayStation 3 on October 9, then Xbox 360 the next day.
