New guys over at 3DWars have pitted up just a handful of recent and not so recent first person shooters, and have compared the most popular according to multiplayer and graphics. What? No Q3Test?!

Just got in from another exciting day of 'entertaining' the family type people <dripping with sarcasm>. It's tough juggling updates for the page and trying to keep 20-odd people in line. Luckily the guys on location at QuakeCon <sigh> provided a few updates on the press tournament. Some of you are getting a kick out of the fact that an Apple G3 was the "grand" prize, but what I really found ironic is that crt won a flat panel display.

Heya, I'm at QuakeCon.

Watch out all you software pirates, it looks like the big bad EA and Sony Computers guys are coming to get ya! Have a look at the article over at e-gamez. Basically they are forming an "anti-piracy" ring.

According to Riley Russell, vice president of legal and business affairs, Sony Computer Entertainment America, "We will work diligently to ensure that these counterfeiters are fully prosecuted and that others who think Internet piracy and `trading' is acceptable will think again."

Well, I wish I had watched more closely to the FFA rounds of the QuakeCon tournament so I could give you guys better info on what is going down. I can however tell you that I heard through the grapevine that the NetGames stats page should be up and running Saturday evening some time. That should give you more information than you could possibly need. There havent been any real upsets that I've seen so far. Basically the expected players. Here are a few of the names I know for certain are heading into the next round which people are buzzing about: Leprechaun, Avatar, Rix-r3v, DieharD-r3v, a|Toxic, Sujoy, Batch, Kulprit, and vitamins. You can also have a look at the PlanetQuake or Frag.com coverage. Also check out Cowboy Carnage Radio which is broadcating from the event, I'll probably pop in on the show a bit tomorrow.

Can't believe I won't be a QuakeCon...sucks. It's not just that I'm not there, but what I have to put up with instead- family visiting and wasting my time. (Though I mean that in the nicest way possible :) Probably will try to make it Fragapalooza '99 though, which is in 2 weeks. I don't think I'll be lugging my gaming computer up there, so I'll most likely mooch off of those PBGaming guys (I hope.)

Linux advocates are claiming that Linux can and does survive lightning strikes all the time and this proves how unstable NT is. Microsoft is reportedly buying out God to leverage His technology for an undisclosed price.

NetGamesUSA has opened up their QuakeCon99 coverage page which doesnt have a whole lot there just yet, but I highly recommend keeping your eye on that page when the event gets underway. The NGUSA guys are gonna rock your world when you see all the information and stats they will be posting from the event. Not to mention the PlanetQuake QuakeCon preview. Also, it looks like a few people have already dug up the official QuakeCon messageboard which id Software requested I host for the event. Feel free to hit the board and post any concerns you guys have there or just make fun

Hey I'm back now. The weather was so nice in California, I decided to extend my trip over the weekend and just have some fun. I'm surprised I got that article posted "on time" considering the 'primitive (inventive?) means' of getting it here. Basically I had no net connection, and the NDA was lifted for online press 3 days early. (Which caught a few of us off guard, but gave you some weekend reading.) I was somehow able to acquire a connection just before the "deadline" quick enough to type it up and email it to Steve, who slapped it up almost immediately. (You go girl! ;)

Next time -- plan better -- anything can happen to anyone, including the sun literally frying a laptop sorry.

The Road To QuakeCon has been updated again with some chit-chat with Anna Kang of id Software. If you are interested in attending the event you should read that .plan update from Todd Hollenshead on the subject about getting in.

Todd Hollenshead, captain CEO man over at id Software has a lengthy .plan update talking about QuakeCon99 which fires up later this week. Speaking of QuakeCon I'm sure you guys will be dissapointed to hear that I will in fact be MC at the event bustin phat rhymes on the mic for a couple of days.

Hey, sorry I was gone all afternoon, forgot to mention that I would be out running all kinds of those "real life" errands that we all try to avoid so much. I've safely arrived back home however and can now restart that count of number of days without seeing sunlight. Hurah! (Will package up and toss a bunch of news your way a bit later tonight after I catch up on da emailz)
