Tiberian Sun's Last Hour

Aug 27, 1999 4:31am CST tags: zGeneral News
Geoff Keighly of GameSlice pulls one of his patented Last Hour features (previously with Half Life, who's link I cannot find) but this time with the just released C&C2: Tiberian Sun.

Is It Ever Enough?

Aug 26, 1999 12:43am CST tags: zGeneral News
Well I'll be damned, I seem to have "found" another modelling picture of Steve! This one's a real gem. Make sure you actually click it below, the head shot doesn't do it justice.

There's another caption contest for this one too, have at it on the Comments section. There'll be another bonus winner (like the best deluded insane rant last time), but it won't be the best deluded insane rant this time. A good rule of thumb for the captions is to compare him to someone famous or question his sexuality. Enjoy!

Tiberian Sun

Aug 25, 1999 12:49pm CST tags: zGeneral News
PCArena has gotten ahold of the long awaited (but now in stores) C&C2:TS, slapped up some first impressions and has taken 15 screenshots of that voxel baby in action.

2,300 Gig Drives? $50?

Aug 25, 1999 7:00am CST tags: zGeneral News
Crazy technology of the day for you guys to look at. According to this Techweb article we may be seeing 2,300 gig drives the size of a credit card? Yeah, like 86 gigs per square centimeter of storage or some crazy stuff. What is even crazier, is the incredible $50 price of production. Generally things this wacky are just blown off as fake, but I dont recall ever seeing a hoax article on TechWeb before. Hrm?

Werkin...

Hrm, working on a few things over here. In the mean time this .wav file is highly recommended.

The Internet is Shrinking!

Aug 24, 1999 2:04am CST tags: zGeneral News
Interesting article of the day for you guys to check out this LATimes bit talking about how the internet is kind of "shrinking" in a way. It seems as though the # of websites and viewers on the net is growing, the actual websites receiving the majority of traffic is shrinking.

Test

Aug 23, 1999 5:04pm CST tags: zGeneral News
This is a test of the emergency broken Shugashack system. If this message actually sees the light of day I'll be dumbfounded and amazed. I would like to thank Alabanza.com for some of the most horrendous tech support I have ever experienced. Thank you for taking nearly 2 hours to hit the damn reset switch.

Guess I'll post a bit more stuff, assuming this works. Sorry about all the down time today guys.

I'm Home?

Aug 23, 1999 11:55am CST tags: zGeneral News
Bah, had to pull over on my way home before I drifted off the road and hit a tree or something. Home about 4 hours later than I had hoped to be. I'll do my best to have a bunch of stuff for you guys up within a couple of hours.

Win a BX6 2.0 with FPS3D

Aug 23, 1999 7:55am CST tags: zGeneral News
Still got that old 386? Time to upgrade. FPS3D is giving a BX6 v2 away to the person that can come up with the most amusing terminology for each letter. My submission: Frat Party Swingers. This is what sTeve was in his old modeling days (teehee)

More on TR Movie's Female Lead

Aug 22, 1999 4:32pm CST tags: zGeneral News
A couple weeks ago, I posted an interesting story about rumors of Catherine Zeta-Jones playing the role of Lara Croft in the upcoming Tomb Raider movie. Well GAS has an update on the situation:

Tomb Raider fans will be happy to hear that a recent print issue of Variety tips that the producers of the film adaptation of the video game are now targeting a Fall 2000 release date. Actresses along the lines of Heather Graham, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Angelina Jolie and Elizabeth Hurley are being courted for the lead character Lara Croft, according to the trade...

And here's the plot, which I'm sure is the only reason why we'd go see it:

...Lara Croft pursues the Achilles Shield in Antarctica and Asia in an effort to thwart a super villain's attempt to gain world domination by harnassing the artifact's powers...

Caption Contest Winners!

Aug 22, 1999 2:20pm CST tags: zGeneral News
Well, the results of the caption contest are in... The winner is Anon@lib205.lib.cua.edu with this gem:
Vidal Sassoon Extra Greasy number 5 hair gel: $10
Bad new wave rock coat from Goodwill: $20
Lame guitar from "Bucks Pawn Shoppe": $30
Feeling that you look damn cool while in reality you look like shit: Priceless
There are some people who have no problem finding ways to crush Steve's dignity. For everone else, there's this pic.
And Anon@user-2ive88e.dialup.mindspring.com wins an honorable mention for most insane deluded rant... This isn't a recurring category, so don't bother trying this in the future :)
Obviously this guy is and was a pampered ass, mamma/ pretty boy who has serious self confidence issues which he hides behinds this ridiculous mask of MTV/Mall bought superficial ,hey everyone look I got new clothes and hair gel, atitude. You can tell this guy still runs home to mamma when ever he needs money or his laundry done. Can you say ONLY CHILD. This guy needed a big brother to kick his ass a little so he would be at least somewhat in touch with the reality that most of us face day to day. This guy? Who knows what fuckin planet Steve is living on. Just keep up your webpage and self agrandizing, you obviously have some HUGE self image issues. NOTICE ME! IM STEVE! SEXIST TALKING, LATE POSTING, 3d GAMING HASBEEN.

Which One Are You Waiting For?

Aug 22, 1999 4:41am CST tags: zGeneral News
PC Paradox has finally finished up their Viewer's Choice round up of 40 games that have yet to be released, but are (highly) anticipated. It's a great once-over/preview of all the games with screenshots. I'm actually a little forgetful posting this (was actually waiting until it was complete) until I was getting prodded by some people to vote for their games *cou-Jack-gh*. Though, there has been some pimping going on at Fingershack too. Saddle up!

Eh?

Aug 22, 1999 3:57am CST tags: Q3Test, zGeneral News
Hey, Marcus here for the morning news. Vanilla Ice is tied up again (either that or he's rocking a mic like a vandal, lighting up a stage and waxing a chump like a candle)...now the judges are still out on the caption contest decision, but I'm just going to have to say snackula's entry really cracked me up, "Steve, the 80's called. They want their hair back."

It's a slow weekend, so enjoy the summer while it's still around--I think I need to play some Q3Test now.

Being a Game Developer Sucks

Aug 20, 1999 4:31pm CST tags: zGeneral News
There's a piece on Slashdot that .ki.Smokey pointed me to about how the games industry really isn't all about fun and games. The author offers this sysnopsis: "I've been in the computer games industry since about 1983...I've come to the conclusion that the industry has gradually, imperceptibly, transformed from a cozy industry full of creative freedom and fun into a rather unpleasant place to work." This could be a rude awakening for some, but that's not going to discourage me ;)

Windows 98SE Patch

Aug 20, 1999 6:08am CST tags: zGeneral News
Microsoft has released the long awaited patch for Windows 98 Second Edition that will hopefully fix some of the shutdown problems users have been facing. That's the word from ActiveWin.

Eh?

Aug 20, 1999 6:01am CST tags: zGeneral News
It's me in da Shack for the morning update again. I'm like all dead tired and stuff so there isn't much action for now except the some Tech and Views to read through, but that doesn't matter when you've got pictures of Vanilla Ice ;) Speaking of which, has anyone heard his latest (that would be his second) album? It's like...all hardcore gangsta Korn-ish, not my style. What I really want is The Fragile though, which hopefully will be out next month.

As September approaches, I'm more and more tempted to pick up a Dreamcast since I have a soft spot for Japanese console games. Anyone else going to do the same? Tough choice with those amazing PSX2 specs though, but that's a year off.

Image of the Day

Aug 20, 1999 1:55am CST tags: zGeneral News
Well, here's an image of the day for ya'll, it's a old picture from Steve's modelling days courtesy of, well, his mom. This is not a joke. I guess this is a birthday present for him or something.

The caption contest will be in the Comments board for this one. Have at it.

Eh?

Aug 19, 1999 1:10am CST tags: zGeneral News
Looks like it's going to be me again hooking up the morning news. Steve was well on his way to "recovery" but then his birthday hit. That's right, it's his birthday today! So he's probably out getting his rumpy bumpies right now. Guess what? It's also Bill Clinton's birthday as well. Feel free to send him email telling him how cool that is. I have a feeling that's not the only thing in common between those two though ;)

New Shackware

Aug 18, 1999 8:33pm CST tags: zGeneral News
Yep, 3 weeks in a row. Somewhere down in the underworld there is somebody selling snow cones. Anyway, dig on the Briefs, the Boxers, and the Balls Out. Or just hit the main page first and enjoy my somewhat less than witty commentary.

Eh?

Aug 18, 1999 3:12am CST tags: zGeneral News
I've been tinkering around with some upgrading and bought a Celeron 366 that has been making some noise in the overclocking community. Probably have to play around some more to have an accurate accessment on my chip. Oh, and anyone know when Metal Gear Solid is coming out for PC? I heard M$ is going to be doing some of the porting or something. Just played it through again on Playstation -- Wow.

We should see the HL client patch soon (right behind the server patch) and maybe even Steve after he's done "recovering" or something.
