Relic has released a new patch for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, updating the popular strategy game and the Winter Assault expansion pack from version 1.41 to version 1.50. The new releases offers network code optimizations, a new observer mode, improved randomization elements and a slew of balancing tweaks. Thanks Relicnews.

Randomizer Enhancements
- Random race selection algorithm improved
- When selecting the random teams option it is now possible to select 3 or 4 teams rather than just 2
- Random teams now functions properly adding random member positioning to game maps.
- Players are now assigned to teams randomly
- You are now less likely to get the same race twice in consecutive games.

THQ and Relic Entertainment today announced that a second expansion pack for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War is in development. Due for this release this fall, "Dark Crusade" will add the Tau Empire and the Necrons as playable races. The expansion also features a new singleplayer campaign and new multiplayer options.

"With Dark Crusade we have taken a very different and exciting route with the single player game, allowing the player to conquer the globe as any of the seven unique playable races," said Ron Moravek, vice president THQ, general manager Relic Entertainment. "The Dawn of War franchise has become synonymous with innovation and attention to detail and we have drawn on the extensive knowledge base that Games Workshop's exhaustive universe provides us with to bring classic Tau and Necron combatants to the battlefield on Kronos."

The Relic forums have a post by a Senior Creative Manager at THQ, offering a changelog for the upcoming 1.5 patch for Dawn of War. The update, which is still being worked on, will offer a ton of balancing changes. Thanks Blues News.

Relic has released a new patch for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War, updating version 1.40 to version 1.41. The new update offers more balancing changes, bug fixes and some new hotkeys.

As was expected, the 1.40 patch for Warhamer 40,000: Dawn of War is now available. Though a hefty 188mb download, the patch does not include new content, only offering some balancing changes and performance improvements while preparing the game for the Winter Assault expansion pack.

THQ today announced that the Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War expansion pack Winter Assault has gone gold. Adding the Imperial Guard and four new units for each of the existing races, Winter Assault will ship to stores September 19.

"The response to the highly visceral combat action in the original Dawn of War was a huge part of the feedback we received from fans," said Ron Moravek, general manager of Relic Entertainment. "But we also wanted to make sure we listened to what our players wanted more of, which is why we are featuring a very deep single player game and a new race that will give multiplayer games a whole new dimension in terms of strategy."

According to this post on the Relic News forums, a new patch for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War will be released this Thursday. It will address some balancing issues, and also adds the option for Persistent Bodies and Decals.
