Replay Studios founder Marc Moehring said that the company is sticking with console-only development after the completion of Velvet Assassin (PS3, X360) due to concerns with the PC gaming industry.

"Germany's famous for its PC market," Moehring told Gamasutra. "but we're planning on going to consoles more in the future. Our in-house technology works on Xbox 360, but it's not possible to port it to PS3, so we'll have to change things. We don't want to hire a whole team just for technology."

"We also have the Crytek technology in Germany, but it also hasn't moved to consoles at the moment, so it'll have to be Unreal," he added.

Sabotage Renamed Velvet Assassin; Studio Assures Female Lead Not 'Tits Monster' or 'Ass Monster'

Mar 03, 2008 10:30am CST tags: Velvet Assassin, Trailer
Formerly known as Sabotage, Replay Studios' World War II-era stealth action title has been renamed Velvet Assassin. From here on out, it is highly unlikely that the game will be confused with Pandemic Studios' similarly themed WWII stealth effort Saboteur.

"Rather than a trite, overused, and generic working title like Sabotage, Velvet Assassin captures the heart of what we're trying to accomplish," explained creative director Sascha Jungnickel.

Based on the studio's claims that the game will hit PC and "next-gen" consoles, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are likely when Velvet Assassin arrives this fall. For more details on the title, which was inspired by the real-life exploits of British agent and Nazi saboteur Violette Szabo, check out Chris Remo's E3 EIEIO 07 impressions.

Along with news of the new name, developer Replay and publisher Gamecock released a new behind the scenes clip, in which Jungnickel shows off some gameplay and discusses the creation of a female lead character that, in his words, is not "a tits monster or an ass monster."
