Uncharted 2: Among Thieves was patched today, implementing a short list of fixes (detailed in the official Playstation.Blog).

In addition to the update, developer Naughty Dog also announced the "first ever Double Cash Weekend," which started at 11:00 AM PST today, and continues until 11:00 AM PST on November 2. During Double Cash Weekend, players will earn twice the normal cash when "completing typical in-game actions." The extra currency helps all players level their multiplayer Rank more quickly than usual.

The development team will also be playing online this weekend, so if you notice a red paw next to someone's PSN ID, you can communicate your appreciation with a hail of gunfire.

New content for Naughty Dog's hit shooter Uncharted 2 will be out by the end of the year, according to the company.

"We're working on that now, and what we're prepared to say is that there will be DLC available before the end of the year," said Naughty Dog creative director Amy Hennig to IndustryGamers.

"Without going into specifics, it'll involve new maps, new characters, things like that," she added. "Some of it will be free of charge and some of it will be purchasable."

According to Hennig, the critically acclaimed game is currently "exceeding expectations" in terms of sales.

As Naughty Dog prepares to release its latest PlayStation 3 exclusive on October 13, the company has confirmed that it will support Uncharted 2 with downloadable content, though the new stuff may be limited to its competitive multiplayer mode. "What you'll probably see is more of the competitive type: more maps, more modes," designer Justin Richmond told Eurogamer. "The co-op stuff is hugely time-intensive and the size of it--the physical download size--is huge, so that's probably not an option."

A demo sampling the game's co-op and competitive multiplayer, but not its single-player campaign, is currently available as a free download in the PlayStation 3's online store.

"I'm not going to say never," Richmond added, offering a faint sliver of hope to cooperative enthusiasts. "But for the foreseeable future we're not going to be doing that."

With the Uncharted 2's October 13 release date drawing ever closer, developer Naughty Dog and publisher Sony are today opening the game's multiplayer demo--previously only accessible to pre-ordering customers--to all PlayStation 3 owners in North America.

Slated to be available via PlayStation Store at 11AM PST / 1PM CST / 2PM EST, the 1.3 GB download allows players to sample four maps, four competitive modes and two co-op modes from the PlayStation 3 exclusive's multiplayer component.

Sony today announced that Naughty Dog's anticipated action-adventure sequel Uncharted 2: Among Thieves has gone gold.

The PlayStation 3 exclusive will ship to North American retailers on October 13.

Reluctant protagonist Nathan Drake is back again in today's double dose of Uncharted 2 media, with a look at one of the more frigid locales featured in Naughty Dog's fall-due PlayStation 3 sequel. He also brought a very special friend, Mr. Tank. Play nicely, you two.

Update: A "GameStop exclusive multiplayer demo" for Uncharted 2 will run from 8/19/2009 to 9/27/2009, according to the retailer. Those that pre-order the game from GameStop are promised both beta access and an "exclusive in-game Revenge Attribute."

It's unclear whether this is the second demo Wells was referring to--we have contacted both Naughty Dog and publisher Sony for clarification.

Creative director Amy Hennig comments that Naughty Dog is "really excited" about the recently-announced Uncharted movie--though Uncharted 2 is almost feature-length in itself as Wells declares "We have over 90 minutes of cinematics alone!"

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is scheduled to arrive exclusively on PlayStation 3 in the fall, with Wells promising that "an official date will be announced very soon."

A feature film based on Naughty Dog's action-adventure series Uncharted is in the works at Columbia Pictures, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Kyle Ward, the same largely-untested writer tasked with penning the scripts for Hitman 2 and the Kayne & Lynch adaptation, will handle the screenplay. Avi Arad, Charles Roven, Ari Arad and Alex Gartner have been assigned as producers.

No other details on the film were mentioned in the report.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, the story of Indiana Jones-esque protagonist Nathan Drake, was released in 2007 on PlayStation 3. The anticipated sequel, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, will arrive in stores this November.

With a pair of $800 sunglasses instead of an AK-47, Nathan Drake wouldn't have been terribly out of place on Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood, where Sony recently held a pre-E3 press gathering to show off Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.

But while Drake obviously wasn't there in the flesh, an army of his clones was present on a bevy of Bravias to demonstrate the new multiplayer and co-op modes in Naughty Dog's upcoming PlayStation 3-exclusive sequel. That's right, multiplayer.

It looks like the "electrifying" Uncharted 2 and inFamous-related announcement Sony was planning for next Monday has been spoiled.

A picture of a Best Buy placeholder box obtained by Kotaku clearly states that copies of Sucker Punch's superpowered open world game inFamous (PS3), due May 26, will include a multiplayer beta voucher for Naughty Dog's fall-due Uncharted 2 (PS3).

The voucher is listed as valid from 6/3 through 6/28/09, likely dates for the beta.

While Sony has yet to officially confirm the existence of multiplayer in Uncharted 2, rumors of its inclusion popped up earlier this week on ScrewAttack.

The site specified that Uncharted 2 would pack cooperative multiplayer, a separate mode from the single-player campaign, along with a competitive multiplayer mode, adding that more details would be officially announced on, you guessed it, Monday.
