Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad Announced

May 04, 2009 11:25am CST tags: Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad, Tripwire Interactive
Tripwire Interactive--developer of Killing Floor and Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45--has announced Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad in a barebones low-key statement.

Word of the game leaked out with a preview in the latest issue of PC Gamer, earlier than Tripwire anticipated. The studio promises a proper PR effort will soon begin in earnest.

All Tripwire officially states for now is that it has been developing Heroes of Stalingrad for three years, and that the game is built upon Epic Games's Unreal 3 engine.

We would wager that this latest in the World War 2 tactical shooter series will be released on at least the PC, and that the Soviet city of Stalingrad is involved somehow.

Red Orchestra developer Tripwire Interactive is creating another full retail game based on an Unreal Tournament 2004 mod, this time the co-op survival horror Killing Floor.

Perpetuating video games' colourful image of London, up to six players are trapped in the hellish city after a mad scientist's twisted experiments escape and wreak havoc.

To fend off the relentless waves of nasties, players have a sizeable arsenal--with flamethrower--and can weld doors shut to delay the fiends. Throw in an SDK, persistent character perks and Steamworks integration, and your monster mash is complete.

Killing Floor is to be released on PC for download through Steam "in the near future." If you want to check out its source material, the original mod is available on FileShack.
