After a replication defect left the PC release of Terminator Salvation uninstallable for many users, publisher Evolved Games today announced its replacement scheme.

PC purchasers' salvation comes in the form of a toll-free support line Evolved has opened to coordinate replacement retail boxes. "Again we apologize for any inconvenience that end users may have suffered do [sic] to this issue," Evolved states.

The PC release was recalled from retail in North America after the error was discovered, and Evolved is currently replicating new, fixed copies for re-release onto store shelves. Copies purchased by digital distribution--such as Valve's Steam store--were unaffected.

Following numerous reports of error messages when trying to install the retail release of Terminator Salvation for PC, publisher Evolved Games has issued a recall.

The problem stems from "a defect [that] occurred during replication" and does not affect the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions, Evolved explained. Developed by GRIN and inspired by the movie that hits theaters this week, the game arrived on store shelves yesterday.

Valve has told us that digital copies of the game sold on its Steam service are unaffected.

Reviews for the game have been lukewarm, citing a short four-to-five hour campaign and repetitive gameplay.

Fixed copies will be on store shelves soon, Evolved added, with the company planning to announce details on a replacement plan for existing buyers shortly... Read more

Terminator Salvation Trailer Shows 'Ground Enemies'

May 05, 2009 5:01pm CST tags: Terminator Salvation - The Videogame, Trailer
This trailer for Terminator Salvation, with its use of the classic Terminator theme, really has me wanting an actual Terminator game. You know, one where you are evading and only occasionally fighting a single Arnold-skinned Terminator, and not a million generic robots.

Terminator Salvation isn't that game, but it's still coming on May 19 on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Terminator Salvation Screenshots: Blind Machine

It's possible that T-800 (below, left) was hit with a conc grenade. Maybe he's lagging out. Maybe his Cyborg mouse stopped working. I would hope so. Otherwise, how embarrassing for him to miss by that much. He's sure going to hear it from his teammates after that round. I wouldn't want to be in his endoskeletal shoes.

Terminator Salvation - The Videogame is slated to arrive on unspecified "next generation" consoles, with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 being the most likely candidates. A PC version was mentioned at one time, but its current status is unknown.

New Terminator Game Ties Into Upcoming Film

Warner Bros. today officially announced Terminator Salvation - The Videogame, based on the Christian Bale-starring Terminator Salvation flick that hits May 22, 2009.

Crafted by Bionic Commando and Wanted: Weapons of Fate developer GRIN, the game is billed as "an action-packed, third-person shooter" with game-exclusive enemies, and will arrive "in conjunction" with the movie.

Apart from a mention of "next generation consoles," platforms for the game were not provided. A previous report pegged it for "next-generation consoles, PC and mobile."

"The player will be led through a visceral story with extremely polished production values to create a fully interactive Terminator experience," noted Cos Lazouras, president of Terminator license holder Halcyon Games.

The game will sport "an incredibly fluid and realistic control set," Lazouras added.

Upon its release, Terminator Salvation - The Videogame will be published by Equity Games, co-published by Evolved Games and distributed by Warner Bros.
