In a terse mailing, Namco Bandai today passed along word that it is working on downloadable update to Tekken 6 it hopes will "improve the online game experience."

The update will be available to players of the recently released PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 fighting game "as soon as it has passed rigorous testing procedures." More details, including specifics on the addressed issues, are said to be coming "shortly."

Though we're still in the dark as to what the patch will contain, we do know that it won't pack online cooperative play for Scenario Mode, as Namco was quite clear that the previously promised co-op update will arrive separately this winter.

In what's shaping up to be a golden Friday, Namco Bandai just announced that Tekken 6 has joined Ratchet & Clank in going gold and entering the manufacturing process. Word of the fighter's completion only applies to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions, both of which are due October 27 in North America. A handheld version is slated to arrive on PSP later in the fall, though Namco has yet to provide an exact release date.

Evander Holyfield and a legion of other real-world fighters star in this montage, which explores their various motivations behind entering the arena. What exactly this has to do with Tekken 6, which isn't mentioned up until the very end, I have no idea.

It's one thing to put a fighting game girl in a skimpy outfit. It's another to put her in one as impossibly impractical as this. I mean, really. What is going on here? Are those roses growing out of her gloves?

Okay, it turns out that there are some words, as developer Namco Bandai has issued some character descriptions to go along with the new screenshots. The Cardboard Tube Samurai there doesn't get a description though, as the cameo appearance of Penny-Arcade's corrugated warrior is just a pre-order bonus costume for Yoshimitsu.

New screenshots of Namco Bandai's Tekken 6 have arrived via Atari, which is publishing the title in Europe. The fighter hits PS3 and Xbox 360 in fall 2009.

Microsoft has announced that Namco Bandai's fighter sequel Tekken 6 will hit the Xbox 360 alongside the PlayStation 3 release.

Takken 6 will be based on the Bloodline Rebellion update, bringing it up to date with the arcade version. The Xbox 360 release will mark the first time the series has appeared on Microsoft hardware.

The game will launch in Fall 2009 on both platforms.
