Microsoft Adds GTA 4, Left 4 Dead and More to Platinum Hits Lineup

Several new games will soon be added to the Xbox 360 Platinum Hits lineup, Microsoft announced tonight.

Left 4 Dead, Grand Theft Auto 4, Street Fighter 4, Saints Row 2 and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will all soon be branded with the Platinum moniker and appropriately discounted.

No updated pricing information was included in the release, with Microsoft only saying the games will be available for "as low as $19.99."

Retailers will also be running a "Buy 2, Get 1 Free" promotion on Platinum Hits games through October 31.

Super Street Fighter 4 Announced

Following a period of speculation, Super Street Fighter IV has been revealed as an enhanced, stand-alone version of Capcom's fighter sequel.

Producer Yoshinori Ono told GameSpot that the game will include improved online features, balance tweaks to all existing fighters, and eight new characters. Three of the new fighters have already been confirmed: T. Hawk, Dee Jay, and newcomer Juri.

Though the game is being sold as a stand-alone retail disc, it will not be sold at full price. Owners of Street Fighter IV will also gain some kind of "bonus" to use in the Super version.

Super Street Fighter IV will arrive in spring 2010 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. No PC release was mentioned.

Street Fighter IV for PC is now available for pre-order with a 10% discount on digital distributors Steam and Impulse, bringing Capcom's fighter down to $35.99.

Street Fighter IV PC is released on July 7, packing several new graphical filter effects and Games for Windows Live support to give achievements, online play and rankings.


Celebrations in response to the deal's announcement vary.

Now available on FileShack is Capcom's Street Fighter 4 PC benchmark tool, to test how well the fighter will run on your computer or if you simply want to oggle it in motion.

The 397MB download contains several bouts, filled with hadoukens and kicks to the face. You can also rate your system the old-fashioned way--against the requirements.

Street Fighter 4 PC Coming to US on July 7, Digital Distribution Outlets Revealed

The PC version of Street Fighter IV will hit North American retailers on July 7, Capcom business development VP Christian Svensson recently revealed in a blog post.

Some retailers, including Capcom itself and Amazon.com, will sell a $60 bundle that packs a SFIV-branded MadCatz Fight Pad alongside the otherwise-$40 DVD release. The PC version packs support for higher screens resolutions than the console editions that hit earlier this year, and also includes three new optional visual filters.

The game will also be available from various digital distribution outlets, including Capcom's estore, Steam, Impulse, Direct2Drive, Metaboli, Gametap, Nvidia.com and GamersGate, all of which should reflect the standard MSRP of $39.99.

Resident Evil 5 PC Official, Hitting Later This Year; Street Fighter 4, Bionic Commando PC in July

Surprising no one, developer Capcom today confirmed that the oft-rumored PC version of Resident Evil 5 will arrive "later in the year," with the PC editions of Street Fighter IV and Bionic Commando due in July. All three will be sold via retail and digital distribution.

"All three games will be optimized for the PC platform and will have new PC-specific features added to the already great games," wrote Capcom. Both Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV hit PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 earlier this year, with the console edition of GRIN's swinging action game Bionic Commando slated to hit on May 19.

Original: Capcom has revealed more of the upcoming PC version of Street Fighter IV, including that it will feature Games for Windows Live and expanded graphics options.

Games for Windows Live will bring online play, in-game messaging and friends lists, voice chat and achievements to the modern update of the classic beat 'em up.

PC gamers also benefit from higher resolutions and several artistic visual effects including sumi-e ink and watercolour shaders, which can be seen in this gallery.

Street Fighter 4 is scheduled for release on PC this summer.

Free Street Fighter 4 Update to Add Tournaments

An upcoming free update to Capcom's Street Fighter IV will add a full-featured championship mode, the company announced today.

The mode will allow players to participate in single elimination-style tournament brackets spread across five difficulty levels. The game will automatically seed players based on their fighting skill.

Players will earn Grade Points (GP) for winning matches, while Championship Points (CP) are earned by winning tournaments.

The top 5000 players will be able to upload a replay of their matches. Users can then view the matches, and PlayStation 3 users will be able to "vote" on fighting characteristics throughout replays.

February Console Sales: Wii Fit, Street Fighter 4 Lead

Nintendo's lineup of Wii and DS titles continues to dominate the North American console sales charts, with Wii Fit once again being named the best-selling video game in the region last month, according to NPD.

Capcom's Street Fighter IV also did well in February, posting combined sales of over 800,000 units across the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms.

The best-selling games of February:

  1. Wii Fit (Nintendo, Wii) - 644,000 units
  2. Street Fighter IV (Capcom, 360) - 446,000 units
  3. Street Fighter IV (Capcom, PS3) - 403,000 units

Street Fighter 4 PC Due This Summer

The PC version of Capcom's Street Fighter IV should arrive sometime during the summer, according to Capcom business development VP Christian Svensson.

"Let's say summer," Svensson told VideoGamer.com when asked about the PC release. He added that the recent arcade sticks and pads produced by Mad Catz are PC compatible, and that Capcom is discussing a Street Fighter 4 PC game-pad bundle.

As for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 editions of Street Fighter IV, which hit worldwide earlier this month, Svensson said that the console releases of the urban bralwer are "exceeding forecasts" and"on track to do some pretty amazing things."

Street Fighter 4 Ships Over 2 Million Copies

Capcom has shipped over two million copies of Street Fighter IV to retailers worldwide, the company announced today. The PS3 and Xbox 360 brawler hit North America and Europe last week, with the Japanese release having arrived two weeks back.

While a regional breakdown of sales and shipments were not provided, Capcom noted that "first week sales in North America have been unbelievable -- just wait until you see the figures [released by] NPD next month!" After the console versions debuted in Japan, Capcom quickly claimed that the anticipated fighter had sold out at retailers.

A PC version of Street Fighter IV is due out eventually, but does not have a solid date yet.

Fresh off its announcement of five downloadable costume packs for Street Fighter IV, each priced at $3.99 and each containing new outfits for five characters, Capcom has sent over a whopping fifty screenshots of the various alternate costumes.

Capcom today unveiled its plans for post-release Street Fighter 4 content, as the company will offer a steady stream of costume packs as well as a Championship Mode Expansion Pack.

The Championship Mode expansion will be a free download, but no release date was mentioned. When it arrives, the downloadable content will bring with it:
  • Replay Mode - Record, upload, and download top matches to share with the Street Fighter IV community. Players can analyze top tiered fighters matches, leave voter feedback for others, and share their own triumphant victories.
  • New Points System - Two new points systems to measure your skill (Championship and Tournament Points)
  • Enhanced Tournament Matching System - Skill level matching system offers improved tournament match making for beginners and mid-level players. Competitors earn Grade Points (GP) to earn entry into more advanced tournaments.

A Good Look at MadCatz's Street Fighter 4 Sticks

Peripheral designer MadCatz today announced its line of official Xbox 360/PS3 Street Fighter IV peripherals, and we have the first images of the massive pads.

The Street Fighter IV Arcade FightStick will serve as the company's entry model of fighting sticks, while the Tournament Edition--sourced directly from an arcade cabinet--will surely be sought by only the true Street Fighter diehards.

MadCatz is also manufacturing a Fightpad peripheral that resembles the shape of an Xbox 360 controller, with an arcade-style, six-button setup.

Amazon has listed the FightPad at $39.99, the FightStick at $79.99, and the deluxe Fightstick Tournament Edition at $149.99 [Thanks Brainsick]. Amazon also lists the sticks as shipping on February 20, a short time after Street Fighter IV's February 17 release.
