Access to an eight-week beta of the game will be granted to Xbox Live Gold subscribers who purchase the Xbox Live Arcade edition of Capcom's upcoming Commandos 3, which hits this spring. HD Remix is due on both the Xbox Live Marketplace and PlayStation Store this fall.

Speaking to Game|Life, Capcom expanded on comments that the game's file size would not be a problem on Xbox Live Arcade. Microsoft has granted special clearance to exceed the typical 150MB XBLA file size limit with HD Remix and Bionic Commando: Rearmed, quelling concerns that size limitations would hamper the Xbox 360 editions.

GDC 08: Street Fighter 4 Impressions

Stepping away from lectures and keynotes during Game Developers Conference today, I was able to put some time into an incomplete arcade build of Street Fighter IV. In short, it was very pretty and lots of fun.
It is truly a thing of beauty. While screenshots may capture the game's core appearance and some goofy facial expressions, mere snapshots cannot convey all the nuances contained within its presentation; the silky smooth animation, the billowing of fabric, the subtle environment destruction.

Oh, and the game is only halfway complete.

Lolo 2, Super Street Fighter II on Wii Virtual Console

Jan 21, 2008 9:53am CST tags: Virtual Console, Street Fighter
Adventures of Lolo 2 and Super Street Fighter II mark this week's additions to the Nintendo Wii's online Virtual Console storefront. Both will be available for download beginning today at 12PM EST/11AM CST.

Originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System, Adventures of Lolo 2 continues developer HAL Laboratory's puffball-staring, top-down action-puzzle series. As with the original, which is also available on Virtual Console, Lolo 2 will run 500 Wii Points ($5).

Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, meanwhile, represents the third and last of Capcom's Street Fighter II titles to hit the Super Nintendo. Much like the other two Street Fighter II games available via Virtual Console, it will sell for 800 Wii Points ($8).

Though it brings four new fighters to the mix--Cammy, Dee Jay, Fei Long and T. Hawk--SSF2T:TNC wasn't the final Street Fighter II entry. That distinction goes to Super Street Fighter II Turbo, which was never released for Super Nintendo and is currently being retooled for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network in the form of Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Mode.

  • Platform is undecided, although Xbox 360 and PS3 seem given. It is likely it will appear in arcades in Japan in Q2 2008.

New Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix Mode Explained: Rebalanced, Easier Controls

Nov 12, 2007 5:45pm CST tags: Capcom, XBLA, Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix, Street Fighter
Along with an arcade-perfect HD reimagining of Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Capcom's XBLA-bound Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix will sport a rebalanced mode that addresses many of the complaints casual and hardcore players have expressed with the game.

Explaining the tweaks at the official Capcom blog, design and gameplay consultant David Sirlin writes that he wanted to make the game easier to play, more balanced for tournament play, and more fun.

Changes include simplified special moves, said to make the game easier to control on a gamepad. For example, certain moves that previously required players to press three buttons simultaneously can now be performed with two buttons. Other tweaks involve more forgiving timing and the removal of many up and diagonal motions, which could occasionally result in unintended jumps.

"These changes alone increase the fun factor of the game quite a bit,... Read more
