Strategy First Picks Up Urban Empires

Oct 02, 2007 6:38pm CST tags: Strategy First, Games: PC
Strategy game publisher Strategy First has signed on to publish Revolution Studios' inaugural title, the gang-themed real-time strategy and third-person-shooter Urban Empires, the publisher announced today. Scheduled for retail early in 2008, the game was previously called Gang Wars, and is in development by Revolution Studios' 22-year-old sole employee/founder/president/hair model Danny Green.

The online-focused RTS/shooter mashup will support up to 18 players online, and allows gamers to switch between traditional group RTS control and single character action on the fly. Gangs are seemingly segregated based on race, as examples of the "9 different gang types" included Irish, Russian, Japanese, Latino, and Italian.

Offline, gameplay is limited to multiplayer matches with bots, as there will be no single player campaign, according to the game's FAQ. Strategy First also included several screenshots to go with the announcement.

Late Night Consoling

Jun 14, 2005 10:00pm CST tags: Sega, Strategy First, Games: Console, Sony
As you are reading this, I'm currently over by the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco at a press event looking at a game that has yet to be fully revealed. I'll give you guys the full scoop within a couple days (Edit: I lied, can't talk for over a month), but for now I can't say much. Sadly, I leave tomorrow morning and will only spend 25 hours here in San Fran, my first ever visit to this city. This place is pretty nifty and I would've loved to seen more of it. I did make one stop and that was Sony's Metreon, the huge entertainment center. There's a theater, arcade, Sony Style store, a PlayStation store, restaurants, comic book store, import toy store.. tons of crap. Pretty neat although quite expensive. In any case, if I missed a story, forgive me as I'm writing this very early. I'll have you all caught up tomorrow.
  • Cure for Dead Pixels on Your PSP?

    [psp]

A "miracle cure" is being talked about all across the Internet that can fix the dead pixels on your PSP. Supposedly, a common industry technique when dealing with LCDs with dead pixels is to run a video that flashes the colors red, green, and blue in a fashion that would cause a seizure for the epileptic. A PSP owner created such a video, played it on his PSP, and voila! Dead pixels were gone! I'm not brave enough to try it, but if you do dare, report back with the results.
