LucasArts has released a new patch for Star Wars: Battlefront, updating the multiplayer shooter to version 1.11. Among other fixes and changes, the 61mb update adds the Tatooine Jabba's Palace map.

Uh oh, LucasArts is working on another Star Wars real-time strategy game. Force Commander and Galactic Battlegrounds weren't exactly triple A titles, but perhaps the ex-Westwood guys at Petroglyph can do better. From a Q&A with LucasArts president Jim Ward (thanks Blues)
... and I think there's a bright future there for games based on these new properties as well as original "Star Wars" games like a new real-time strategy PC game that Petroglyph is developing for next year. This game will take the (real-time strategy) genre in a new direction and will balance gameplay between the hard-core gamers who buy these games and the broader audience that's familiar with the "Star Wars" brand.

As expected, LucasArts has released the 1.1 patch for Star Wars: Battlefront. The update improves AI, updates the server browser and improves game stability among other things.

A new Star Wars: Battlefront patch has been released by LucasArts, updating the multiplayer shooter to v1.01. It changes two things since the 1.00a patch: "Corrects an issue with losing connection to the host after Task-Switching" and "Added planet names at Planet Loading Screen".

Best Buy Battlefront Launch Event

This press release announces that several Best Buy stores around the country will have a special midnight launch of the Star Wars DVD set as well as Star Wars Battlefront. LucasArts has announced that the multiplayer action game Star Wars Battlefront has gone gold, and will be on store shelves September 21st (day and date with the original trilogy on DVD). The Pandemic Studios developed game will be available on PC, Xbox and PS2.
Star Wars Battlefront is an intense open-ended single player and multiplayer action game set in the Star Wars universe that puts fans and gamers in the heat of the action as they re-live all of the epic battles from the classic and prequel eras.
