With BlizzCon and a playable build of StarCraft 2 looming, we had the chance to sit down and chat with Blizzard rep Bob Colayco at last week's E3. The talk covered topics such as Blizzard's early developmental discussions, plans for the company's Battle.net service, single player advances, and other crafty concerns. Check it out.
On improving single player: There are definitely some ambitious plans in place to do something different with the story mode campaign. Add some elements of replayability to it and give you a chance to really do something different. We'll probably have more to say about that later, but right now, it's not going to be--I'll just say, it's not going to be one mission at a time. There'll be some new stuff in there.

Starcraft II During opening ceremonies at the Blizzard Worldwide Invitational in Seoul, Korea, Blizzard Entertainment today announced that the sequel to its phenomenally successful real-time strategy game StarCraft is currently under development.

Blizzard has issued a few details about the game, most importantly noting that it will utilize "a custom 3D-graphics engine with realistic physics and the ability to render several large, highly detailed units and massive armies on-screen simultaneously." StarCraft MMO Announcing Soon?

May 05, 2007 7:46pm CST tags: MMO, Blizzard, StarCraft 2
So the rumor mill has been going pretty wild lately and at least a couple different sources are pointing towards a StarCraft universe-based massively multiplayer game as the announcement coming soon in Korea. Blizzard has already confirmed that it plans to announce a new product on May 19th in Korea and it doesn't take a rocket surgeon to speculate that it is StarCraft-related given the venue. The Blizzard rep quote, in case you forgot:

"We do intend to announce a new product at the Worldwide Invitational next month in Korea, and we appreciate the enthusiasm and interest in getting an advance look at what that will be, but players will have to wait until May 19th to find out more. Also, we have a very strong connection with the characters and settings of StarCraft, and we do plan to revisit that universe at some point in the future, but we don't have anything new to announce in that regard at present."

In addition, CVG has been told by "well placed US sources" that a StarCraft MMO is in the works. So there you go, a StarCraft MMO may be coming soon. Or, as is more likely with Blizzard timetables, within the next 5 years.
