With tri-Ace's Star Ocean: Second Evolution hitting North America next week and Europe on February 13, publisher Square Enix has released new screenshots of the PSP RPG.

An enhanced remake Star Ocean: The Second Story, which hit the original PlayStation in 1998, the PSP version adds new dialog, playable characters, and animated cutscenes.

Star Ocean: Second Evolution, the enhanced PSP remake of tri-Arce's action-RPG Star Ocean: The Second Story, has suffered a two-week delay in North America.

Once expected to arrive January 6, the game will now hit store shelves on January 20. No reason was provided for the postponement. The remake hit Japan in April of this year, with a European release expected next spring.

Along with new animated cutscenes, Second Evolution adds new playable characters and new dialog to the game, which originally appeared on the first PlayStation.

Adding to the previously announced March 3, 2009 release date for tri-Ace's Xbox 360 sci-fi action-RPG Star Ocean: The Last Hope, publisher Square Enix today issued a list of the games it plans to release during the first quarter of 2009:

• Star Ocean: Second Evolution (PSP) - January 6
• Dragon Quest V (DS) - February 17
• Star Ocean: The Last Hope (Xbox 360) - March 3
• Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume (DS) - March 17
