The arcade real-time strategy--developed by BWF, Dreamlore Studios and N-Game Studios--authentically recreates the Red Army's 1942 defense against Martian invaders.

Stalin vs. Martians is available now on Direct2Drive, Impulse, and Gamersgate for $20--though it's still at the pre-order price of $16 on Steam for the next five hours.

After suffering a last minute delay on Monday, Stalin vs. Martians (PC) will be released via digital distribution platforms on April 29, publisher Mezmer announced today.

The bizarre WWII strategy game--developed by BWF, Dreamlore and N-Game--is now available for pre-order from Steam, Direct2Drive, Impulse, and Gamersgate at 20% off, making it $16. The pre-order sale ends when the game arrives Wednesday.

"Fans of historically inaccurate World War II games everywhere will rejoice," Mezmer executive producer Tom Soderlund said of the "arcade RTS," previously described as "the perfect choice for anyone who just hates the strategy genre."

Stalin vs. Martians Suffers Last Minute Delay

Originally slated to release today, Stalin vs. Martians (PC) has been unexpectedly postponed until later this month "due to the long march across the Siberian tundra."

Described today as an "arcade RTS" by publisher Mezmer, the quirky digitally distributed title was developed across three separate studios: BWF, Dreamlore and N-Game. It's been billed as the "the perfect choice for anyone who just hates the strategy genre."

"A dictator is never late, nor is he early. He arrives precisely when he means to," said Mezmer executive producer Tom Soderlund. In light of the delay, the 20% pre-order discount on "all leading digital download portals" has been extended until release, with Direct2Drive now showing the reduced price. Still no listing on Steam, however.

Shack PSA: Stalin vs. Martians Pre-order Discount, Free Music Downloads Include 'Stalin Loves Disco'

In anticipation of the April 20 arrival of Stalin vs. Martians (PC)--a three-way collaboration between developers BWF, Dreamlore and N-Game--publisher Mezmer has announced that the game can now be pre-ordered from "all leading digital download portals."

Pre-ordering is supposed to knock 20% off the quirky strategy title's price, bringing it down to $15.99, though the only outlet I could find offering that deal is Gamersgate. The Direct2Drive listing doesn't indicate any savings, and it's not up on Steam.

In addition, songs from the game's equally bizarre soundtrack--featured in the amazing trailers--can now be downloaded from the official site for free, including smash hits "My Pocket Stalinizer," "All Hail Stalinator (90s Remix)" and "Stalin Loves Disco."

Earlier word of an April 20th release date for Stalin vs. Martians (PC) is now accompanied by a fresh batch of screenshots from the bizarre strategy game.

"What shocks the most is that the martian forces look like a gay parade of Nintendo-styled cartoonish creatures," said publisher Mezmer Games earlier this year.

Developed by three entirely separate studios (BWF, Dreamlore and N-Game) and packing "incredible Russian soundtrack and wild music-video intermissions," the unbelievable title will soon be available through "all major digital games retailers."

It's been a fun ride, but sadly, the end is near. Publisher Mezmer today announced that Stalin vs. Martians--the result of an odd three-way collaboration between developers BWF, Dreamlore and N-Game--will arrive April 20, nearly a year after its unveiling.

The bizarre PC strategy game, said to be "the perfect choice for anyone who just hates the strategy genre," will debut that day on "all major digital games retailers."

"One contributing factor to the success could be the high level of historical accuracy, that is completely missing from the game," Mezmer executive producer Tom Soderlund said of the many views the videos have racked up on YouTube. One of those follows below:

Stalin vs. Martians Trailer: Do the 'Hail Stalinator'

After watching this new trailer for Stalin vs. Martins--the bizarre PC RTS lovechild of developers BWF, Dreamlore and N-Game--I'm too awestruck to come up with anything. Fortunately, the developers also sent along some marketing copy:
Following the demand of the audience for the Stalin vs. Martians footage, comments that gameplay bits in the debut trailer are "choppy" and rumours that there's no game at all, only dancing Stalin, BWF and Dreamlore release a new video that gives everyone some answers.

Stay tuned for the updates, more weird stuff is on the way!

Packing an "incredible Russian soundtrack and wild music-video intermissions," Stalin vs. Martians arrives on "all of the main digital distribution services" in April.

"What shocks the most is that the martian forces look like a gay parade of Nintendo-styled cartoonish creatures," says publisher Mezmer Games.

The game itself is a simplistic take on an RTS, with power-ups and other mechanics not typically seen in the genre.

Stalin vs. Martians Announced, Pictured, Amazes

A trio of Russian developers have revealed that they are all collaborating on an alternate-history PC strategy title that pits former Soviet Union leader Joseph Stalin against invading Martians.

Titled Stalin vs. Martians, the game is billed as "the natural choice for anyone bored of hundreds and hundreds identical 'World War II strategies'" as well as "the perfect choice for anyone who just hates the strategy genre."

Set in 1942, it begins as Martians invade Russia, forcing Stalin to lead the military's anti-extraterrestrial troops into battle.

Developed by Black Wing Foundation, Dreamlore and N-Game Studios, Stalin vs. Martians is expected to release this fall. No North American publisher has been announced.
