Nov 05, 2009 4:20pm CST tags: SplitSecond, Trailer
Explosive racer Split/Second has received another trailer, this one outlining the dangers that everyday objects pose. Why, just about anything can be exploded to sabotage your opponents, from radar dishes and smokestacks to airplanes and ships.

Much like developer Black Rock's 2008 release Pure, Split/Second is due out on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. No word yet on an exact release date beyond "2010."

E3 brings more media of Black Rock Studios' racer Split/Second. For the very first time, the batch features one screenshot without a single explosion (below, left).

The trailer certainly doesn't disappoint, delivering positively divine detonations--all of which are triggered by players to open new routes and, of course, crush their foes.

Isn't reality television horrid? Of course it is. How disheartening then, that Black Rock Studio--developer of Pure--is turning its hand to reality television with Split/Second.

Except rather than sitting around talking drivel, contestants are in a high-speed race and trigger massive explosions to open new routes and smash each other to pieces. Super.

Published by Disney, Pure zooms onto Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC in early 2010.

Pure Dev Unveils Destructive Racer Split/Second

The folks over at Black Rock Studio, responsible for last year's trick-based ATV racer Pure, and studio owner Disney Interactive today revealed the developer's next project.

Titled Split/Second, it's an explosion-filled city racer coming to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in early 2010. The premise involves a "hyper-competitive reality show" in which players trigger explosions to run their competitors off-road and create new routes.

"Action racing has captured the imagination of video game fans worldwide and we're going to redefine that experience with Split/Second," promised director Nick Baynes.
