The Soldier of Fortune 2 Gold patch has just been released by the folks at Activision. You can grab the patch in two different flavors, the 1.02 update for those of you who are up to date, or the full 1.02 patch.

- Full Gold patch (any version)
- 1.02 update Gold patch (you must have 1.02 installed)

- Added rebuilt mp_col2 to fix known map hole.
- Added new Kamchatka map mp_kam5
- Added new Jordan map mp_jor1
- Added new Shop map mp_shop2
- Fixed disappearing weapon issue on certain maps

The guys at TechSpot send word that their Soldier of Fortune 2 tweaking guide has been updated with more options and what not to squeeze a few more FPS out of Raven's shooter.

Looks like the auto-updater of PunkBuster in Soldier of Fortune 2 is busted, and so a manual patch has been released to update the anti-cheating program. Thanks ashkie. We have a mirror here.

Raven has released a second Soldier of Fortune 2 SDK supplement (418kb) for the single player part of the game. It includes animatEd and sklview. More info is available on FileShack.

If you're running a dedicated Linux server for Soldier of Fortune 2, you can now grab a new update from FileShack. Version 1.02a fixes a problem with Punkbuster. Thanks 3D Gamers.

As promised, Raven has released a new patch for Soldier of Fortune 2, updating the game from version 1.01 to version 1.02. Punkbuster anti-cheat support is now included, and there are many weapons/gameplay changes and additions and even a few new maps (mp_kam4, mp_col2, mp_hos2, mp_pra2). It's a 20mb download, grab it from FileShack. If you run a Linux server, you can get a new dedicated server build here.

Gamers Click has a brief Q&A with Activision producer Matt Morton & Tony Ray of Even Balance. Matt and Tony answer questions about the upcoming Punkbuster integration into Soldier of Fortune 2 which will help combat online cheating. The new patch should be out at the end of the month.

Version 1.2 of the Soldier of Fortune 2 mod Kill the Man with the Ball has been released. This mod adds a custom gametype to Raven's shooter title. We have the mod mirrored on FileShack.

The folks at Activision have sent along word that they plan to continue the battle against hackers with the release of Punkbuster integration in the next Soldier of Fortune 2 release. Here's the official word:

We are pleased to announce that Even Balance, Inc. is working on integrating PunkBuster into Soldier of Fortune® II: Double Helix © by Activision and Raven Software. We will release more details here as they become available. Any PB supporters who have specific knowledge of where to download hacks and cheats for multiplayer SOF2 should send information to research@evenbalance.com.

Raven Software has released an SDK supplement for the recently released Soldier of Fortune 2 1.01 SDK. It adds a single player entities definition file, a single player project file, a batch file to run the single player QERadiant and a single player QERadiant executable. "Place these four files in your C:\SoF2SDK\bin (by default) folder with the rest of your 1.01 tools (story)"

The Radiant website now offers version 1.2.10 of the GtkRadiant level editor for Quake 3 engine games. 1.2.10 offers support for Soldier of Fortune 2 among other things. Saw that on Blues News.

For all of you with GameSpy Arcade, there will be a Soldier of Fortune 2 chat tomorrow. The chat will start at 3PM Central in the Soldier of Fortune 2 lobby, and Raven's Rick Johnson, Kenn Hoekstra, and Bryan Dube will be attending.
