Raven has released the map source files to the original Soldier of Fortune multiplayer levels, for those who want to modify them or port to Soldier of Fortune 2 possibly. You can grab the 5.4mb file from FileShack.

SoF Platinum Download

Raven's Kenn Hoekstra updated his .plan file with word that the Soldier of Fortune Platinum edition is shipping today. If you want the 5 new multiplayer levels that are included, you can download those here. There's also an official 1.07 patch, which you don't need if you already had the 1.07f beta.

SoF Platinum Gold

Raven's Kenn Hoekstra updated his .plan file saying the Platinum edition of Soldier of Fortune has gone gold and is off to manufacturing. Platinum contains the original retail game with the Gold edition extras, 5 new multiplayer maps, Strategy Guide in PDF format and a preview trailer of SoF2. This is mostly meant for people who don't have the game yet. But I'm guessing if you still don't have SoF at this point you really don't want it.

SoF Platinum Edition

HomeLan is reporting that a new version of Soldier of Fortune will be out in stores soon. It'll be called Soldier of Fortune: Platinum Edition, which includes the Gold edition of the original game, a trailer for SoF2, 5 new multiplayer maps and the strategy guide in PDF format. Kenn Hoekstra says "I'm pretty sure the Platinum upgrade will be released free for regular SoF and SoFGold buyers". It should be out around the end of August.

New SoF Patch

Over at Planet Soldier of Fortune is an updated 1.7 patch for Soldier of Fortune. The original 1.7 patch apparently had some problems, but these should be fixed now. Saw that on Blues News.

Fileplanet is hosting a new 1.9mb patch for Raven's Soldier of Fortune. It replaces the WON authorization in favor of Gamespy code among some other things.

SOF Center is hosting a new mod for Soldier of Fortune 1. This beta release of the Green Wall Mod "is based around custom everything and takes place in a jungle". Yup, that's about all the info there is.

New SOF Patch Soon

Activision sent word that a new Soldier of Fortune patch will be released soon. This patch will replace the WON code for Gamespy multiplayer code, because as of August 10 WON/Flipside will stop hosting SOF. There will also be other multiplayer server fixes in the patch.

EAX SoF Download

Creative has posted the third and last EAX download for Soldier of Fortune. This last download adds EAX effects to the single player levels of the game. Previously released were EAX enhancements for the DM and CTF levels.

For the owners of Soldier of Fortune looking to spice up the multiplayer part of the game, Fileplanet has the patch that will add the features of the Gold edition that is also available in stores for those who don't have Soldier of Fortune. It's a 26.5mb file and adds 18 multiplayer maps to the game along with two new multiplayer modes, six new player skins, a bot opponent, pure server support. It also has several bug fixes. SOF Gold Patch Today

According to a post on the Raven Soldier of Fortune forum the patch to upgrade Soldier of Fortune to the Gold retail edition will be released today. The Gold edition of SoF greatly enhances the multiplayer side of the game.
